I'd wear that dress on a normal day. Nice handiwork, Cory.

Re: "Oriental" Medicine

According to Wikipedia, the term Oriental is only offensive to Americans. Supposedly, if you were from the UK, it's a perfectly normal reference to Eastern Asians, and specifically Koreans. I can see how referring to YOU as an "Oriental" person could potentially be offensive, but in this case, if the medicinal tactics at the clinic are used in all of the Eastern Asian areas that the "Orient" encompasses, it would be a good descriptive word for the title of the practice, and not necessarily meant as an insult to your heritage. Not that I've read anything at all on this subject, I'm just curious why you find the actual word so awful. It seems more like the context is what makes it crappy. (Lately I've been interested in why certain words become so politically incorrect, and never even thought of this term until you brought it up!)

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I read your blog. I know it's hard to tell if people don't comment. You guys have written about so many things that I never would have been exposed to otherwise!

Re: Surface Currents - Sand from Bodega Bay, CA, under a microscope.

Both. This one is just for geology stuff, Surface Currents #2 is for personal things.

Re: Je suis tres fatiguee.

I know! I am counting down the days (eight). As much as I love Portland, it will be so nice to see familiar faces, people I've known for more than 3 months and already know what my major is and how old I am.

Re: Highlights

haha It's okay, I have no free time either! I uploaded all of my photos to Flickr, so you can steal them if you want.

Re: Surface Currents - If one more stupid fucking hippie corners me into...

Yeah but then I'd have to stand in the rain all day and act like an asshole to the people passing by. I doubt it'd make enough money to be worth that!

Re: Fall is here...

I can't go to a cider mill either. And I don't know why - apples grow in Oregon! So now I really miss that part of fall in Michigan. It's weird to not be able to do something really simple that I took for granted.
