I think this is probably something many people have felt, but not wanted to say out loud. You're not alone, I'd wager. The advice that you should find out, to prepare yourself for the idea might be a good idea. x

Really lovely piece, and a reminder to watch what we say around our kids - as well as a reminder to watch what we say about ourselves! I often do the, "Oh,. I'm no good at fixing things, can you please try," and hands things over to my partner - whereas if I really applied myself, I'm sure I could figure out how to do these things myself.

It's definitely a controversial poster decision - whether they intended it to be or not! I'll be interested to see what the film is really like, and whether it's as balanced as Ricki Lake wants it to be. It's such an emotional topic for so many people - but I think it will be interesting to see a doco where although the emotions of the interview subjects are being displayed, there's no other agenda.

I'm not saying kids should be allowed to use any language they like, but when it comes to parents swearing in front of their kids I think it's not really an issue to stress about. There are so many other more important moral lessons to teach children - such as being kind, and being compassionate - that I think need to come at the top of the list.

I had exactly the same reaction to Book Week every year! I've often wished there was a similar event for adults... There are a couple of second hand book fairs I like to go to, that are just as exciting. ;)

That's why I never listen to audio books at home! I only really listen to them in situations where I can't read, like when walking, because otherwise I know I could be going more quickly and it's inefficient. ;) But if I'm actually multitasking...
