It is one thing to go to a PD workshop, be given a bunch of handouts, and be told, "Teach it like this..." and quite another to actually see the teaching in action. I know that most teachers try faithfully to change and use the "new" best practices, but to practice without understanding (just like the students when given lots of repetition without concept work first) sometimes results in more harm than good.
