Megan, I think you're overreacting. In a big way.

In no way is Obama advocating the kind of Lou Dobbs-esque xenophobia that has gripped the nation and that Republicans, in particular, are exploiting through racialized language for political gain. I think his stance on trade is a legitimate one and his statement here also legitimate - but also one that invites disagreement. Obama's the first presidential candidate I've seen in my lifetime that seems to actually invite disagreement for positive reasons (Clinton does so, but for her own self-interest).

I'd really like to understand how you interpreted what you did from that statement, because your post doesn't adequately address it.

She's allowed to make the RFK comment herself, and not apologize directly to Senator Obama. He condemns remarks that he didn't make in strong language, and it's still not good enough for Clintonia because he didn't mention her specifically.

The 'bad credit" assumption is anything but - it's a stereotype. Frankly, considering the dearth of coverage about McCain's tax issues, it's a fair point to question why all of a sudden, we're hearing about a mortgage that the WaPo didn't even seem to consider Barack Obama obtaining simply because he's credit-worthy. The very fact that they were in such a rush to even imply impropriety certainly made me wonder whether they assumed he wasn't credit-worthy when I read the piece this morning.

Besides, you're assuming two things: that McCain is some kind of saint, and that these people have anything at all to do with the topic at hand - the WaPo article. Lastly, I'm not interested in games. It's your point, guy, and you've already said I'm not a mind-reader. You must think it's somehow "brave" to defer the explanation of your vitriolic vagaries to others who challenge you to explain them. It's not.

Not wholly accurate. Obama supports the possibility of drilling on lands already designated for drilling, and McCain wants to ignore what we already have to drill in even more locations. Nuance, perhaps, but an important distinction. As for nuclear power, Obama's supported it in Illinois, but hasn't committed 100% to doing so as President. As for liquid coal - I don't know as much about that issue, so if that's true, that's not good. But it's the dent in the Rolls Royce, people. At the end of the day, it's about November 4, and picking one of these two cats to be President. Who would you rather see in there, warts and all?
