You seem to be under the (wrong) assumption that the law only protects the living person here. Just because we don't have Martin's testimony doesn't mean we can't piece together the situation from his point of view with the present evidence.

And gwangung is right, you have yet to (in your endless stream of replies on this article) articulate a single point from Trayvon Martin's point of view. I would go so far as to accuse you of being contrary simply to be contrary here, playing devils advocate.

It's a common usage under the self-defense law.

Generally it's worded that if a reasonable person were to be attacked or under imminent threat of bodily harm they can initiate while still being protected under self-defense.

That's not the problem the prosecution will have in this case, the problem is that under Florida's backwards self-defense laws an aggressor (under certain circumstances) may still be able to shoot the person they were attacking even if that person was acting out of self defense. I don't believe it has ever been tested in court, but I believe that is the problem the prosecution is running up against now.

I'm sorry for the double standard, but you must know, it's not mine but the law's.

If I reasonably feel that you are intending to do me harm through your actions or your words then it is within my rights to defend myself. If a large man that I don't know starts to specifically follow me at night (and lets be clear, there would be no confusion if Zimmerman was following him, this wasn't a street busy with pedestrians) then I can reasonably assume this person intends to do me harm. You don't need to throw a punch at me for me to now hit you out of self-defense.

Normally this would be a tough thing to defend in court since it would be my word vs. yours but not in this case. We have recorded audio of Mr. Zimmerman admitting to following Trayvon and we have a witness report from Trayvon's girlfriend who was on the phone with him at the time and says that Trayvon noticed and was concerned about the man following him.

Since the evidence points to Trayvon as being the one in his rights to use self-defense and since we don't have any witnesses other than the accused who actually saw the initiation of the conflict I have a hard time finding reasonable doubt that regardless of who threw the first punch (which as i stated above, doesn't matter in this case) that Mr. Zimmerman posed a threat to Trayvon, Trayvon acted in self-defense, and during that conflict Mr. Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon.

It doesn't matter if Zimmerman didn't want to harm or kill Trayvon Martin, he did all the same.

You're skipping the first 2 parts of my response, either by choice or error.

There is (by my untrained eye vs. your untrained eye) sufficient evidence both circumstantial (via the watchdog vigilante lens that 56 calls to 911 in 60 days offers) and direct (via the 911 tape where Zimmerman admits to following a kid + the report from Martin's girlfriend where he says that Zimmerman has been following him) that Zimmerman, a 240lb adult, was following/stalking Martin, a 17 year old kid, at night.

If the above is true (and as far as I can tell, it is) then Martin was within his right to self-defend via confrontation or even fighting. It is Martin that is using self-defense.

Zimmerman cannot both be the aggressor/stalker and the defender in this case. You don't get to initiate a problem with a person, lose a fight, then shoot the person you were stalking and claim self-defense.

Remember, Martin didn't initiate anything. Had any normal civilian been on that street instead of Zimmerman no one would have died.

You don't need to prove that he intended to harm, only that Martin could reasonably assume this person meant him harm.

If a 240 lb man that you don't know starts following you while you're walking home at night it is totally within reason to believe this person may mean you harm.

I don't need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Zimmerman meant harm, simply that he, through his words and actions meant to initiate the confrontation with Martin and through that confrontation (which again, he initiated, thus ruining any self-defense argument) killed an unarmed 17 year old kid.

1) We don't know what happened or why certain players were or weren't picked up. They never gave hour long specials devoted to telling us why. So I can't blame Gilbert. Especially since in every other sense he seems to be willing (and trying) to make every move they can to improve the team.

2) LeBron had 7 years to recruit his Pippen. I know that's front-office work, but when you're a superstar like LeBron that's the sort of thing you can take into your own hands (and should if the opportunity presents itself).

3) How can you not have a problem with the way he treated Cleveland throughout this? The city of Cleveland showed him nothing but unquestioned love since he was a junior in high school (if not earlier). His way of showing respect for that? Stringing them along for 18 months only to turn his back in front of tens of millions during an hour long prime-time special? We were a suitcase and a germophobe away from the NBA version of deal or no deal. It was humiliating and revolting.

Blaming "us" (Facebook, ReadWriteWeb, Google) for the confusion of these users is similar to blaming Mercedes for your car accident because they didn't tell you the gas pedal was on the right and the brake was on the left.

Web browsers have been pretty ubiquitous parts of our lives for the past +10 years. The fact that these people are able to get on facebook at all should signify how (pardon the phrase) "idiot proof" technology has become.

These people don't know what a web browser is, but they regularly use a real-time streaming social network filled with status updates, wall posts, pokes, and picture tagging. So no, it's not Facebook or Google's fault. It's no one's fault really. These people have chosen to be this naive about technology and will continue to be so.

What's so noteworthy about this is not the naivete of the user... just that 'the animals ran the zoo' for a bit. Normally, due to their extreme lack of understanding of their googly bar, these people never travel far from Youtube, Facebook, or occasionally wikipedia. It just so happens that this time they stumbled onto a nerd watering hole and made fools of themselves.
