But to compare the Pre to the iPhone is like comparing the success of Tiger Woods to a first year college player. The problem for Palm that they will likely never overcome is that apple and windows mobile has the attention of the development community and they will simply never catch up from an apps standpoint, which is what people seem to want these days. Let's see what happens, but I don't think it looks good for the Pre or any future WebOS phone.

Re: You Won't See The Palm Pre On Me

I have an additional perspective on all of this. The idea of the Palm WebOS is definitely innovative and interesting. But as a mobile developer I can tell you that I don't think they will ever get enough momentum to really do much. Meaning that there are so many applications for windows mobile and other's such as Java based apps and iPhone apps that they will likely get lost in the crowd. I have seen some of the best ideas never get off the ground. They came to market too late and with only so many developers they will just not get their attention at this point. So the issue of it being a closed solution or otherwise certainly doesn't help the Pre, but in the end it won't likely matter because of the above mentioned reasons and the hardware reviews have been horrible. If that isn't enough, just go to the store and put one in your hand and you will understand the reviews.

Re: MobileBeat2009 Top Startups: Mobile apps and services that change lives

Thank you for this information. I am really excited about the new API's for windows mobile 6.5 in the short run (gestures, widgets, etc) and the possibilities for windows mobile 7 are heating up with announcements regarding the zune hd and others. This is an exciting time for sure.

Re: Tweeting On The Go: Are You Using Twitter From Your Mobile Phone?

There are several good twitter applications for windows mobile to choose from and more popping up all the time it seems. I have personally tried about 7 or 8 and I have settled on Twikini. There may be others that are good too, I am now just used to this app and it works great.

Re: New Mobile Friendly Wikipedia Web Site Looks Good on iPhone, But So-So on Windows Mobile - mediabistro.com: MobileContentToday

I am sure this app looks fantastic on quite a few of the HTC windows mobile phones.
