Something just occurred to me ...

I'm an almost-daily Starbucks customer, doing regular business at three different stores (enough that they know my drink when I walk in). I'm more often than not on my way to a bus or subway, so I pick up an Equal packet and stirrer while I'm waiting for my drink (so I don't get held up waiting for space at the condiment counter), then I grab my triple espresso and I'm usually out the door before I take my first sip.

At what point in that process is the barista supposed to stop and query me about how my drink tastes? Are you supposed to follow me out the door, or what?

Mr. Rubinfeld said Starbucks would begin to tailor new stores to specific neighborhoods. For example, it could create some stores in upscale neighborhoods that drop frilly drinks like Frappuccinos and sell only coffee beans and high-end espresso drinks — similar to Starbucks’s original store at Seattle’s Pike Place Market.

True dat, playa. It's not the food orders that disrupt the store, I would pay extra to get my triple espresso without having to wait for twelve minutes behind people ordering frappuccinos, viviannos, portobellos, huachinangos and assorted labor-intensive drinks that DON'T EVEN HAVE COFFEE IN THEM!!!

I customarily order my triple espresso macchiato with "easy foam," not because extra foam makes me choke (what, exactly, is the physiological basis of choking on warm milk foam?), but because too many baristas assume I'm looking for a dry cappuccino at a lower price. As I once explained, I want it with just enough foam that I can still see the darkness of the expresso.

The reason for my pickiness: straight expresso in the morning on an empty stomach gives me heartburn, but I'm lactose intolerant and most SB milk drinks are out of my range.

Oh, and it's a standing joke at my local branch that everyone behind the counter remembers my order, but no one ever gets my name right :D

I've never understood why drunks think coffee will "cure" their drunkenness. All it does it make them more wide-awake and obnoxious -- not to mention more likely to get behind the wheel.

Well, if it's supposed to be sangria you should add Rioja red wine, triple sec and club soda. But boy howdy, on top of iced coffee that would REALLY make it spew-worthy:

I'm sorry, but this sounds pretty awful to me. With Iced tea, okay, but *coffee*? With *citrus*?

Not to mention it has no right to call itself sangria if it's non-alcoholic.

Mine's a triple easy-foam espresso macchiatto.

Straight espresso occasionally gives me heartburn, so I prefer the touch of dairy to offset it. Easy-foam because too many baristas seem to think an espresso macchiato is a dry cappuccino in a short cup. Not to mention the ones who can't hear the word "macchiato" without "caramel" in front of it.

And triple because, hell, I want the caffeine.
