Apology and full disclosure: all I remember about *Death Wish* is that Bronson was in it. I will stand seriously behind the notion that *Roadhouse* is a revision of its genre, however (if we could establish its genre to begin with).

Dumbass has got a point about team names. So, what's the best team name ever, JGT? I think "Free Mumia, with a Purchase of Mumia of Equal or Lesser Value" was my favorite.

David Foster Wallace, whose fiction I have advised / implored / outright required a few of you to read, did a great essay on 9/11 called "The View from Mrs. Thompson's." It's in the collection *Consider the Lobster*, I think, but it's also available online (in a shorter version?) from *Rolling Stone*:

"Does Johnny's camera have a panorama function for that team picture?" ... "second place! What's that work out to--like $.75 per team member?").

Among my many superhuman powers is the ability to post as Mike Minion, and yes, to manipulate temporal dimensions on internet blog services. Though actually, I think what happened here is that JGT deleted the previous "Quizzo Tonight" entry, but that Mike's post there was reanimated or something when JGT tagged a newer entry with "Quizzo Tonight" a day later.

There's a pretty decent code of ethics among frequent players that seems to ensure the effect of cheating is more or less inconsequential. Competitive Wednesday teams don't do any better or worse (on average) when they play Tuesdays or Thursdays, when the questions are new, and there aren't enough one-off victories for new teams to raise significant suspicion. In the end, it's probably just not worth it for people to go to great lengths to cheat consistently.

Only quizmasters who are very particular, about such things as spelling, full names, accents grave and acute, and the difference between, say, Greek and Latin, actually start at the official time. They have no imagination.

Agreed, JohnniE, and well said, though you very graciously elected not to mention that Duane's World has yet to bring its full allowance of 8 players to the challenge at Ugly American.
