It seems like those two demographics don't overlap much (at least, judging from the terrible design generally associated with MMA).

While I agree that they pretty much suck, some of them (Tim Sylvia, Diego Sanchez) at least make good use of photographs, which is something most websites could learn from.

The sad thing is that all of those websites were probably made by professionals. But most people just don't have enough design education to select a good designer. I'm currently building a website for a friend who does submission wrestling. I hope it'll be nicer than those.

Re: At the Pond

That's how I understood it too, and the comic is funny because this has obivously happened multiple times before (as shown by the toys strewn around), and despite this neither the boy or the monster expected it.

Re: 30 Artistic and Creative Résumés

Wow, lots of great resumes here. But I have a few remarks (which might very well be off the mark since I'm new to wordpress).

First it seems to me that "attachment_array" is not actually an array, but an object. Also, I'm wondering why you don't use $attachment_array->post_title to get the title instead of making another query using get_post(), which seems superfluous?

Re: The 23 most beautiful wordpress portfolio themes

Wow that's a great list! I know very well that the comments I quoted didn't come from profesional designers, and that's the problem. Instead of highlighting "design by committee" they just show "design by non-designers".

You don't address the true issues of design by committee, such as what to do when you have contradictory input from multiple highly qualified persons.

And as for your Smashing Magazine argument, let me once more refer you to Wikipedia.

Re: The "Design by Committee" Straw Man

I think your last comment shows a much more balanced and diplomatic view of the issue.
