This does not instill pride in those who love Worcester and want it to succeed.

Another waste of city time for another "circus".

Just like the gambling parlor, the failed olympics bid at the DCU, or the tennis courts in a city park.

How about attracting private sector, high paying, high tech jobs as Marlboro is doing with EMC and GE.

Also, didn't Saint Goblain (Norton Co.) set up a research operation in Marlboro with several hundred jobs.

Worcester desperately needs new leadership. Vote out Petty next week.

We can vote in eight weeks for better school committee members as well as a new Mayor who chairs this committee.

Gaffney and Lukes are at least offering some new and better ideas. A city curfew might give us some immediate relief from the breakdown in law and order that is wrecking our city. It is summer and Worcesterites should not have to fear going out at night as well as during the day.

In the long term, we will be dead. The city's elderly cannot wait until the Augustus-Petty long term plans show results, if they ever do! At least a curfew and state police would provide quick relief for what is left of the summer - after such a bad winter.

Worcesterites who fear going out and stay home are the people serving "prison sentences" this summer.

Hopefully, in a month, we can vote out the bad officials and vote for candidates who will bring law and order back to Worcester

Regretfully, the highest officials in the city have failed to deal with the breakdown in law and order in our Worcester. Indeed, the crisis has gotten worse under the present mayor. The JCC Crime Watch meeting offered little if any hope for improvement this year or next. A monthly Crime Watch meeting at the JCC would be a good idea.
Fortunately, city voters will have an opportunity to vote in our preliminary municipal election in several weeks.
Hopefully, voters will select candidates for mayor, city council and school committee who will support bringing law and order, and safety back to our city.

The olympic games are a three week circus and not worth our tax money. it is a reminder of the big dig fiasco. The unions and construction companies are the big winners in this discussion.

Politicians supporting this project are letting down the taxpayers and voters.

Fortunately, Baystate voters can veto this project in next year's referendum.

Teenage violence is a long-term problem.

City Hall's priority should be to bring law and order to the city's streets and parks - for the eight or ten weeks left in our all to short summer.

Elderly citizens - taxpayers and voters - have a right to get out of their homes and enjoy summer life. This is their final years. They should not have to live and walk in fear.

I also blame city hall for failing to place CCTV cameras in city parks - and for the breakdown in law and order in Worcester.
Shootings and vandalism seem out of control.
It is summer now, and this is no way for Worcesterites to have to live after such a bad winter.
Only four more months to city elections and hopefully some changes for the better.

Democracy is alive and well in the New England town meeting - and has worked for almost four centuries.

The New England town meeting is also an example of democracy in action today, just as it has been for almost four centuries (1620). We get a chance to speak and to vote - one person gets one vote. This is pure democracy just like in ancient Athens.

Most of the effective government in the USA is taking place at state level.

The gridlock in the federal government is what foreigners know about America.

The economic and energy boom as well as social change like gay rights and the safety net is mostly being decided in the dynamism of the states which are much closer to the people - and it is working fine.

America is turning back to traditional isolationism. A paralyzed federal government prevents foreign entanglements - as Obama learned when Congress voted overwhelmingly against bombing Syria.
