Newspapers and magazines who rely on such trickery deserve to follow dinosaurs into extinction.

Call me skeptical. These are MUCH easier to write a press release about than to actually experience any meaningful benefit in the wild. Sure, you may connect once or twice at an airport or a big stadium. But (a) isn't that why 5G exists ( to expand capacity? ) and (b) most people aren't regularly in airports or stadiums.

I hope I'm completely wrong and this works as described.

I just tried this yesterday. Here's how it went.
Logged into my Verizon account on the web
Went to the BYOD page
I did check the "Activate this device today / eSim"
And I received an order confirmation

That's the end. Nothing else came from Verizon after this step.

No activation or instructions on how to activate eSim

I was able to download an eSim from Verizon though it did not activate my phone ( and instructions on Verizon's site say you need to then call Verizon with your IMEI. )

I inquired quickly to chat which said "wait 2 to 3 hours" ( Tip: In my experience, this is code for " I don't know " )

Verizon chat did not seem to know anything about eSim BYOD activation when I contacted them 4 hours later to ask why I wasn't able to activate my Pixel 6 Pro eSim

Verizon support did not seem familiar either when I called the next day ( today ) to ask why I wasn't able to activate my Pixel 6 Pro eSim

Today I told Verizon to cancel my BYOD eSim order which they did ( they seemed relieved not to have to figure this out on their end )

Then I went online and created an order for BYOD with a PHYSICAL SIM which progressed in a way I expected
a. Order confirm
b. Shipping notification ( in lieu of this I would have expected eSim instructions from Verizon )

This is why I just can't get excited. The announcements either seem to never arrive or they are so late that I don't remember what they promised 9 to 12 months ago.

We've been waiting since September 2021 to see the Spaces update. It seems all we get from Google is announcements and discontinued products. Very little shipping before people just lose interest.

Is like it if Google only announced things when they were actually shipping. I'm still waiting on the revamped Spaces UI announced several months ago.

What makes tasks awesome is the integration to Gmail. Hopefully they will continue to enhance the feature set.

Ordered Dec 5, received Dec 22. Also got the email and $100 store credit probably because my ship date was all over the place - including past XMAS. When my phone shipped it actually arrived two days earlier than expected.

Be careful ordering based on the Google store's estimated ship date. My date would move a day or two out every time I checked the order status.

Fortunately, the biggest hassle I had with the order was the varying ship date. My phone arrived in the box and FedEx was early.

Gmail app required that I log all my accounts back in. Beyond that most other apps seemed to retain login info.

My Authy transferred fine. Microsoft Authenticator and DUO both required manual steps. Microsoft Auth let me back up my codes but even after restoring I was still prompted to recreate them. I guess security wise that’s good but it’s a hassle.

I had to call Verizon as my eSim was listed as not eligible. Once I was on the phone with Verizon it was about an hour of trying before the tech finally asked if I had downloaded the latest ios15 update ( I hadn’t ). I downloaded and the phone rebooted. Shortly after I say my old phone had a message about Verizon removing LTE. And then my iPhone 13 Pro Max began provisioning.

My experience with iOS 15 b5 Podcast App ( haven't tried on 6 yet ) is the auto download does not appear to work reliably. I have some shows where it's working fine. Yet other shows don't auto-download and I only realize this when I'm out exercising and away from a cellular signal.

I took the trial on my Gmail account. $10/mo for what is essentially Meet and a booking calendar ( spoiler: there are quite a few good inexpensive booking add ons ).

Agree with other post - this should be part of Google One.

As it stands, I guess this is for Meet users who need up to 24 hour calls ( and other bells whistles ).

This is not a bad deal on the 100% Apple accessories. I ordered and received mine overnight. Be advised that the clear iPhone 12 cases have a few complaints ( including from me ) that the buttons are hard to push with the case installed. I can confirm that the silicon 12 pro case I receive has no such issues.

Perhaps I'm misreading the Google Admin Help page. It appears to indicate that direct messages ( aka chat ) is 1:1 with external users. The workaround is you create a room for any 1:many external chats.

Known limitations
Users in G Suite organizations that haven't turned on Chat aren't reachable through Chat. Users can message any external users in organizations that have Chat turned on.
You can't turn an existing room into an external room. To create an external room, you'll need to recreate existing rooms and add external users.
You can't add an external user to direct messages with a group. You can only chat externally with a 1:1 direct message or in a room.

I don't think it's exactly comparable. External users can't be brought into chats ( different from rooms ) with more than one person.

Google needs to update their Pixel features so that G-Suite users can make use of the new assistant. It's very misleading for them to promote the new features with barely any notice that paid G-Suite accounts will be unable to take advantage of them upon release. Changing over your phone from G-Suite based account to Gmail based account is not trivial for most users
