Reading the book, Profiles in Corruption, by Peter Schweizer, scares me. It takes the reader on a tour of the Democratic presidential candidates and their money ties. Still, it beats four more years of chaos.

Full disclosure; I grow Real Straw wheat drink straws here in WNY. The problem with plant-based (PLA) straws is that they look so much like plastic that you cannot tell the difference. They can foul the plastic recycling stream and are compostable only under certain conditions. PLA manufacturing is a pretty involved process. Wheat drink straws are skinny and a little more fragile, but you can toss them anywhere. They are just gluten-free wheat stems. Look at the photos below, and consider the process from corn to PLA straw. Consider the process from wheat to wheat straw.

A couple things can help. Renewable systems like wind should be owned by the communities which they serve, not outside developers.

Products like nrg insulated block have been proven to be effective to highly increase building energy efficiency, but government entities claim they cannot pick winners. In fact, government entities are picking winners when they subsidize geothermal, wind ,and solar.

It doesn't cost any more money to create a net zero energy building than it does to create a conventional, energy guzzling building. It takes intention, and a willingness to embrace change, not fear it.

Although I waited an hour on the phone to contribute to the discussion, time ran out.
As general manager of NRG Insulated Block, I had the honor of representing our company at the 2015 US Innovation Festival. Our energy efficient concrete building block was one of thirteen game-changing technologies chosen by the US PTO to exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
The potential for widespread benefit from our innovation is that a dramatic increase in building energy efficiency can result in a massive redistribution of wealth. Money spent on energy bills can be spent on goods and services, benefitting everyone while increasing the GDP.
The hurdle our technology faces is that even though there are US DOE-produced Advanced Energy Design Guides that recommend wall systems like NRG, hardly anybody uses the guides.
Little known is the fact that with a conventional budget, you can construct a building so energy efficient that adding a small renewable system will take care of all its energy requirements.
Innovations are out there that solve some really big problems. With a couple hundred NRG buildings up, we have a proven technology that can contribute much in a multi-billion unit per year market.
Not being able to contribute to On Point's on-air conversation is an apt metaphor. We can't help if nobody knows about us. Perhaps On Point can perform a public service by doing a show on building energy efficiency.

What went wrong? How about the mainstream media downplaying Bernie at every turn.
Washington Post was on Hillary's side form the beginning. No doubt someone is writing a book about how their coverage sandbagged Bernie. It's all there in black and white if you take the time analyze it. A national disgrace that ultimately put Trump in office.

Anybody notice the only two early results on nbc news at 6:30 pm last night showed Trump way ahead in KY and IN? Seemed like a "get out the Hillary vote" effort while the polls were still open.

DNC's tactics helped eliminate Bernie and consequently ruined this country. Those who complain about Russian meddling ignore the fact that Hillary had too many negatives. The Russian hackers only uncovered truth.

Thanks for the enlightening link. That was the second time in two weeks that Jack Beatty has mentioned that Sanders' plan will add 17 trillion dollars to the deficit. That dude needs to shut up about it already, or at least mention that " a soundly discredited report projects Sanders' plan as adding 17 trillion to the deficit".

I hope they carry the event live as they did with both Clintons speeches. I found it very odd that here was live TV and radio coverage of a campaign event. However, since they covered both Clintons, they should cover Sanders. And Trump and Cruz, I guess, to be fair.
