Cool thing you did there on Wendy's blog, might hire you as my webdesigner ;)

My blog is a mixture of english and dutch so not as easy to follow for everyone. A post i did 4 years back on a coldplay song might me interesting though. You can check it out here: http://martinjanssen.blogsp...

Re: Songwriting with Stu G

scared of intimacy? lol
ofc it's not the same as, but on some level share some similarities imo :)

Re: Photos I Took At The Ocean…

Lovely shots Vicky, i get a real summer feeling which is a good thing :)

My 50mm is still my favourite lens. Hands down. I love basic photography and it can't get anymore basic than that. I find it hard to give you anymore good advise coz so many good things have been said already. 2 thing from me:

1. Study some (good) photographers, how did they shoot certain pictures, why chose those angles, what makes it strong, how does it communicate to you. If you try to analyze those things you can lift your own pictures to a higher level.

2. Shoot with your heart, for beauty comes from the inside. Only you can show the world through your eyes. What do you see, what beauty do you find? Surprise us :)

So basically it's the same as songwriting, and I'm guessing you applied these 2 points to your writing as well, haha, or am I wrong?

Re: Mini Me!!

Supercool, when can i order one? haha

My best gift given to me recently was a hug from my best friends son and him telling me i was his best friend. The songs I wrote together were always some sort of complex synergy I can't explain (or maybe would be best explained by making love?) How you complete eachothers ideas so that you feel a connection in your soul. A new song is born.

Re: Two Interviews: KPRZ and The Roman Underground!

Cool question, for me i would love to interview C.S Lewis, Paul, King David, Keith Green, Shafique Keshavjee (very good writer/minister, check him out!) The car is cool and I can see why you like it. Throw a guitarcase in the back and hit the road! ;)

I like the quote, it reminds me of just taking it day by day, step by step and just doing instead of holding back because of fear.

I'd been inspired lately by 2 quotes from Alan Hirsch:

'A great deal more failure is the result of an excess of caution than of bold experimentation with new ideas. The frontiers of the kingdom of God were never advanced by men and women of caution.'
- 'The Forgotten Ways'

'If you want to build a ship, don't summon people to buy wood, prepare tools, distribute jobs, and organize the work, rather teach people the yearning for the wide, boundless ocean.'

Re: Canada Tour Starts!

Hey your new header of the site rocks!

As does Bluetree, I love that song! Don't give them away so easily. Just be carefull and resize them. Besides that'll make this page load much faster ;)

I've been a freelance photographer for some years. Did some weddingphotography and bandshoots and whatever came my way.

I'd recommend a Canon Eos 1000D or a 450D if you're a starter. It has a good kitlense (18-55mm) included as well. You might wanna opt for a Canon 50mm 1.8 lense (or 1.4 but it'll kost you 3 times more) which is great for making portrait shots and is around $80-90.

But that's just advice from a Canon-lover, Nikon is just as good as well :)

Re: Photos from Vacaville CA!

very cool pictures, thanks for giving us a glimpse. S. Eliot – a poet who rocks!

I love T.S Eliot, glad you discovered him! Must have been 12 years ago for me and I fell in love with "The Journey of the Magi" and also "What the Thunder said". The last part of Journey of the Magi is my favourite quote I think:

"All this was a long time ago, I remember,
And I would do it again, but set down
This set down
This: were we led all that way for
Birth or Death? There was a Birth, certainly,
We had evidence and no doubt. I had seen birth and death,
But had thought they were different; this Birth was
Hard and bitter agony for us, like Death, our death,
We returned to our places, these Kingdoms,
But no longer at ease here, in the old dispensation,
With an alien people clutching their gods.
I should be glad of another death."

The Rock you mention is very good as well. It was a reflection of that time but could be prophetic as well. The decay of the church, the abolishment of God, whilst being replaced by... nothing. Yes maybe power, wealth, money. All substitutes for the void that can only be filled by God himself. It was for the first time in history men replaced God by nothing.

If you talk about constantly building, hear what the workers in The Rock chant:

"There is work together
A Church for all
And a job for each
Every man to his work"

I think more and more christians are beginning to realize the importance of working together, and their own place in the body of Christ. I was moved the other day by a documentary entitled: "Lord Save Us From Your Followers"
where the maker was asking the same question as you do now in this blog. The outcome of the documentary broke my heart. I witnessed Christ through the things being shown. That is what relevance is all about. Forgiveness, openness, compassion, LOVE.

I'll check out Daley's site! And I'm curious about that book you mention Paul. Gotta check it out as well :)

Re: Friendship & Earl Grey Tea!

Back in april when you were at CMA I posted this about Keith & Melody:

Hey Vicky, great to see you know Melody as a friend and mentor. I was spurred in my faith after reading her book about Keith and when I found the dvd about his life even more. So I had to do something and that something was sharing that story with more people. I had put that documentary on YouTube last year and it has over 60.000 views now. Many people have also been encouraged this way. The responses are overwhelming! I even got in contact with someone who used to live with Keith in the first year of his ministry.

You can check the video’s here if you like: http://youtube.com/watch?v=...

Say hi to Melody from me, and thank her for being so kind that I could share her and Keith’s story this way.

----

In the meantime the views have gone up to 73.000 and a lot people have been blessed. I think it also did LDM good coz a lot of people are asking where they could buy his dvd's and music :)

The first song I heard of Keith, sung by Keith was "Sheep and the Goats" which hit me like a truck. How lively, how energetic, how radical, how pursuing. All qualities of God's Love, but also His call to take Him seriously.

@Sha-Sha: wow that is a difficult story, so glad to hear your sister knew God. She must be praising Him now alongside with Keith.

Re: The Crucified Life….

@Shannon: If you look up the song "Captivated" by Vicky on YouTube ( /watch?v=YKvpqmhLgTw ) and see the images of Jesus with his disciples then I'd take that intimacy and friendship and love over all the money in the world. That is what I call a life of abundance.

but... here is the other side of this coin (or maybe it's still the same side ;) )
I have a friend who is really smart, a real businessman at heart and he loves Jesus... a lot.
And his goal is to bring Jesus to the rich people. In order to achieve that he wants to make a lot of money to be in those circles.

Like Paul says:
"Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn't take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I've become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn't just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!"
(1 Corinthians 9:19-23 - The Message)

Re: The Crucified Life….

If ultimately what we strife for is the Kingdom, why would we strife NOW to be bigger than a camel... Coz Jesus said it is harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.

A gospel of prosperity is nowhere to be found in the bible. Unless you interpret a life of abundance as such. But what can abundance be? What does really count? In the end?

Hmm, weird thing, I just started my iPod and the first song that came up was this one :D

Jason Upton - Poverty

There's a power in poverty that breaks principalities
and brings the authority's down to their knees
There's a brewing frustration and ageless temptation
to fight for control by some manipulation

But the God of the kingdoms and the God of the Nations
the God of creation sends his revelation
Thru the homeless and penniless Jesus the son
The poor will inherit the Kingdom to come

Where will we turn when our world falls apart
And all of the treasures we've stored in our barns
can't buy the Kingdom of God?
Who will we praise when we've praised all our lives
men who build Kingdoms and men who build fame
What will we fear when all that remains
Is God on His throne, with a child in his arms,
and love in his eyes
And the sound of his heart cries

Re: Phil Wickham… the new album – and is FREE!

Listening to the new album of Brown Feather Sparrow (http://www.myspace.com/brow...
Definitely something to check out!!

Re: Take a Deep Breath and…rest!

Hey Vicky, cool you're taking a break, enjoy it! Catch some waves for me ;) I just came back from a week in London. It was awesome there and to my surprise very nice weather as well. Sunny days!!

My feet could have been in the ocean last Christmas while I was in Portstewart, Northern Ireland visiting my brother. But it was winter and I'm not that crazy...

Oh and I couldn't comment on the previous blog but as I have posted before, I did some freelancing as a photographer which (most of the times) means I'd rather be behind the camera than in front of it. And yeah I still dream about making my own movie one day. Have to think of a good story though.

Re: Where I’ll Be This Weeked…

on second thought, maybe I'll trade one of my books in for:
"How To Survive On A Desert Island For Dummies"

;)

Re: Where I’ll Be This Weeked…

I guess the 2 books I would choose to take with me are:

Jesus Freaks 1 & Jesus Freaks 2 by dcTalk
These 2 changed my life and challenged me to not only be willing to die for Christ but far more to live for Him as well.
