I am not sure i understood 100% what you & your friends were saying! I mean UK english is so fast and i felt its surely different from the hollywood movie dialogues, from where my understanding & speaking skills in english come primarily.

Any follow up post on this? I am not very sure but i assume your website now runs on GAE, what more you have to share? [i am a new learner hoping to do something with GAE in next few months]

I agree. I came from that Hacker News thread, there few people from India seemed to disagree, and many from US told their parents also emphasize on good grades and they don't think its unjustified.

But there is a big difference between educated US parents 'expecting' their kids to do well & un-educated/semi-mad parents in India 'demanding' their kids to be the best. I have seen it everywhere, in bigger cities, in small towns[my place], happens with my cousins these days, other children i have seen. This is madness.

Let a kid do what he thinks is good & is within his capabilities & he will be best in that category. For example i was kind of expected, though not forced to become a software engineer, you know that boring C/C++ things ;) , but i choosed my own destiny [long story ;)]

Wow! i came from someone's twitter status to scobleizer's friendfeed to ur blog. Coz when i hovered on ur profile on FF u had so many icons linking to ur social places.

I am also registered in few places[social networks] online and its so time consuming. I wounder how people, like you and others who are quite visible online, or for instance scobleizer handle such information overload and still manage to find time for family.
