Because a lot of people in the world, probably the vast majority, aren't that bright! This is a fact not many people understand. We all assume everyone is as intelligent as us.

A while back some idiot on these boards suggested that the various anti-Obama messages (Airforce 1 registration used to be N166ER, etc) were circulated by liberals to make the right-wingers look bad. It's a lovely theory, except that as this hoax obviously proves, 99% of people would take the message at face value. In short, the only people the "liberal hoaxers" would annoy are other liberals!
