Devastation or Opportunity?

Bill, thanks for finding me on Google Reader! I have been wanting to use that functionality more often but it seemed silly since I'm only sharing with Mark Madsen so far. We ought to get the word out to our friends so we can all share killer content back and forth.

For those who stumble upon this dialogue: Google Reader allows you to share articles you find of interest with others that are "following" you, similar to Twitter. What is also cool, every article you want to share populates onto a unique page like this:

http://www.google.com/reade...

So cool. And yes, I'm very excited to talk more about Google Reader at Mortgage Revolution. For more info on this killer event you can visit this website:

http://www.mortgagerevoluti...

Re: Lost to the Competition. Now that I'm entering "intermediate" mortgage blogging land, I am getting 200 to 300 articles piped into my Google Reader a day and I would have missed this one if not for your article.

The mortgage business magically got a lot easier when rates plummeted in late 2008. Sure, it's more challenging getting a loan funded today, but I'd take those problems over a lack of selling opportunities.

We all know that 2010 is likely going to be a down year, and it's the basics that are going to differentiate success and failure. I think many of us, heck myself included, have a tendency to get away from the basics when we get stressed/busy/etc. The Mortgage Cicerone always gives us that gentle reminder that it's the little things that often make the difference between a transactional and a true relationship-based business.
