thanks for your thoughts gary. i'm not settled on the personal transportation on rails idea, but i'm a huge fan of light rail & similar public transportation systems. i did think of your project when i saw this proposition in masdar, abu dhabi in which "inhabitants in Masdar will never be any further than 200 meters from some form of public transport or personalised rapid transit."

i wonder if the "frontrunners" (hillary, romney, mccain, giuliani) have held such vague platforms (beyond not really knowing much about the issues anyway) so that they can see what resonates with the public in the polls & then hijack that element as needed. i have recently heard a number of the quasi-gop candidates emphasize "freedom" & "liberty" more than they ever did before ron paul's popularity was taken seriously.
