Will this thing have to be on tripod at all times or is there a handle system for it? I'm as excited as anyone about the specs on this piece of equipment but from all the images I've seen I have no idea how the heck we're going to hold it. I have a hard time believing nobody has thought of this yet but so far no pics or comments. Where can I see somebody holding one of these things?

Daniel J. We have a book that we're interested in adding some of the features that the new ePub allows such as additional video and sound. For those of you who have not heard of liquid lenses. Many years ago, maybe 8-10, NASA announced they would be licensing technology they developed for producing liquid lenses. In the newspaper article I read it mentioned that all the big camera manufacturers had signed up such as Nikon, Canon, Olympus, etc. to license this technology. One of the big advantages they mentioned in the article, that wasn't' mentioned above, is liquid lenses offer a huge advantage in weight and size reduction. I seem to remember 40% size reduction and 30% weight reduction. I may have those turned around but suffice it to say that from what the article discussed, NASA had created some amazing technology. Every time I haul out my Nikon 600mm F/4 I dream of liquid lenses coming true.

Daniel J. I recently had a chance to try the GX7 and I was very disappointed. The EVF off to the left is very awkward to use and hold properly. There is an advantage with being able to push the camera up to your face so it's stable and solid. With the eye piece off to the left it just didn't seem as stable. Obviously that's just one opinion but I've put off buying the GX1 and that was one of the main reasons simply based on assumption. After testing it I came to feel I had been right decision.

Daniel J. Interestingly, you do mention how it's all about one's own personal opinion. For me I'll take the on center EVF. As for Olympus shooting themselves in the foot? Like many things we either love or hate, the market will be the one to have the final say as to who is right. For me I'll vote with my wallet for a camera with an on center EVF. I'm a big fan of most of what Lumix has done but the off center EVF on the GX7 has stopped me from buying one. Just sayin:)

Daniel J. Give it a front dial and a more powerful flash for better wireless connectivity. Speaking of wireless connectivity, let's make all Panasonic cameras radio wireless rather than IR. If radio would take up too much room, stick with IR on the GX7 and just give us better flash to fire the optical sensor on Panasonic strobes. All other Panasonic cameras should be wireless radio across the board.

Daniel J. Yes, there is post here and there about other things but it seems by far and away Olympus centric. I've felt for a long time that Panasonic has gotten short shrift in this forum. Especially when it comes to the still photography capabilities of the Lumix system. Case in point, about a week ago I produced a series of pictures showing the immense changes in the capabilities of the new GH4 in Predictive AF. 43rumos was kind enough to announce the post with a small, barely noticeable link, here it is: "Review of GH4 DFD Predictive AF Capabilities by Naturalexposures" but they offered no encouragement to the readers regarding how revolutionary and positive this new AF system is. It's without a doubt a game changer for the world of mirrorless cameras and Micro Four Thirds in general.

I've used both Olympus and Panasonic and without question Panasoinc is much, much easier to use, produces equal or better image quality and is moving faster than any camera company I'm aware of to offer professional tools. More photographers need to give them a serious look.

Daniel J. If they are not rewarded they will figure nobody cares. Panasoinc is a behemoth that can drive the technology like nobody else other than maybe Canon or Sony. Sony has some great products but it just seems like Panasoinc has a better handle on consistency, staying focused (No pun intended, by not producing lots of different sensors, lenses for many different camera models.) Panasoinc reminds me of how Nikon used to be regarding quality, good tech with a purpose not just tech for tech sake. I want to see Panasoinc succeed and to do that we all have to give their gear a fair shake. I've been absolutely floored at the features Lumix cameras have that REALLY work. Great touch screen tech, 4K video on an SD card, the new Depth From Defocus, razor sharp optics like the new 42.5 Leica, Wireless strobe technology and on and on. This company needs to be encouraged and if you try their gear you will see they are doing a fabulous job.

Daniel J. It's astounding how one of THE major players may be on the road to a Kodak moment. You should give the Lumix some thought since you're a motorcycle guy. The smaller lenses of the Micro Four Thirds system is a huge bonus for going lighter and smaller and the quality is coming very close to the full frame systems. One thing I believe we are going to see is Panasonic making even more progress on the smaller sensors. They have to. Unlike Nikon, Canon and Sony, they've committed themselves to one size sensor. All the other players are uninspired to make the smaller sensors better, Hey if you don't like their smaller sensors just go buy one of their full frame cameras. They win either way. Panasoinc doesn't have that luxury and they're going to be inspired to make a Micro Four Thirds sensor equal to or better than Full Frame. I predict it will happen within the next three years. Stay tuned.

Daniel J. If you are a company that has at least three different camera lines, all with different sensors, there's not much incentive to make your smallest sensors equal the quality of your largest sensors. Instead you just suggest to the market place (Me and You) that if they want better quality they move up to your larger, more expensive camera line with larger sensors. This is why I believe Panasonic will excel and photographers all benefit from a small sensor camera that will eventually be producing images as good or better than what we currently see in Nikon, Canon and Sony. With the added benefit of a smaller lighter, less expensive package. Win/Win for the consumer and my aching back.

Daniel J.
