The review is totally misconceived. The Corolla is not a BMW. It is a reliable, economical car with NO pretensions.

Re:

does anyone respond to these comments??

Re:

I'm running Linux Mint 19.3 on an HP Pavilion
15-cs0057tx. I can't upgrade to LM 20 because Ubuntu has problems with Intel RST (so the error message suggests). My question which I hope you may be able to help me on is, will LMDE5 be a suitable upgrade path for this machine?

Re: Linux Mint’s Website Has a Much Needed Minty Fresh New Look

I've used Mint for the past 8 years. It's an easy to use, intuitive distro which makes using my laptop a pleasant experience. I'm still using 19.3 and there's a reason for that. It seems to be impossible to install Mint 20 on my recent HP Pavilion laptop due to the fact that Mint 20 is incompatible with Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST). This is very disappointing. The only alternative seems to be to go for Mint LMDE 4, tho I"m not sure that will work. Any suggestions??

Re: You Can Still Use the Old Firefox Interface (but not for long)

I don't have any problems with 89 except that when I type a query in the query line in DuckDuckGo (the one in the middle of the page), this is treated as a html address query and gives an error message, forcing me to use the queryline at the top of the page. DDG is a browser and why can't its query line be used for that purpose. BTW, can anyone help on this problem?

Re: IPython mini-book: Learning IPython for Interactive Computing and Data Visualization

I have been using both of your books in my data science studies. Surely it is possible to devise a protocol which would provide for "proof of concept" studies and, at the same time, guard against a "government actor" scenario. Do you guys want to go back to Windows? 10 or whatever? Mint, IMO, is a really cool distro, alos not forgetting that it is free. Still I suppose squirrels are somewhat less aggressive than snakes, at least they can't coil themselves around people's necks :)

Re: Police behead boa constrictor wrapped around body of Ohio woman

The victim seems to be acting from the best of motives - a concern for wild animal welfare - but snakes are not harmless pets, they are predators and will attack instinctively. If she wants to continue her rescuing of animals than perhaps she might try working in the future with less aggressive animals, like rabbits or squirrels. Much safer!

Re: How to install Lamp server on ubuntu 14.04

Thanks very much. Apart from one service 6 months ago to replace a worn paper feed part, this printer has not needed any repair work at all. Its thruput over the years has been around 5 reams/year. It's described as low-end, well that may be true but it is a sturdy well-built machine very much in the HP tradition.

Re: Login | by Anything Digital LLC

Hi, ES is just what I needed. On switching from the JCE editor to no editor, however, some html tags, p and br, are displayed in the text area. This doesn't happen in the reverse direction tho. It's obviously not a design feature :) and is no big deal, but if it can be gotten rid of, please let me know. This little quirk aside, ES is a really useful extension. Thanks

Re: The Birth of Reason

Yeah, the current Christian right view of American history, particularly from the Revolution onwards, is complete rubbish, totally in denial of the well-established historical facts. Their religiosity and zeal is exactly what the Founding Fathers, as children of the 18th century Enlightenment would have condemned as ignorant enthusiasm (using that word in its older, derogatory sense).
IMO, one of the important bulwarks against this irrationality is the Establishment Clause, as exercised in the recent legal action in Dover, Pennsylvania regarding the School Board's attempt to push creationism as a scientific theory on the same level as Darwinian evolution.
This is an excellent article which sets out in great detail how the US Constitution is permeated with the values of the Enlightenment. It stands alongside the UN Charter as one of the great documents celebrating human reason, tolerance and justice.

Re: Loading sounds faster - Blog - Clicktorelease

The audio files are specific to each web page so, I guess, that since the split buffers persist as long as the page is open there would be no need to store them, right?

Re: Loading sounds faster - Blog - Clicktorelease

HI,
Thanks for a very interesting article. I have been looking online for ways of reducing audio file latency in an English/Thai language site I'm working on. Our site depends heavily on audio and latency has become a real issue for us, located as we are in SE Asia. The audio files we are using are quite brief being of one or two words or short sentences, but each page might have up to 50 files and individual audio files might be accessed several times.. Your technique looks as though it might do the trick for us.
But I noticed that you mention on the web page that the sound files can only be played once. I'm a novice when it comes to Web Audio, so I haven't been able to get my head completely around all your code, but I'm working on it :). I wonder if you could, in general terms, to indicate where your code might be modified to provide repeated playing of the audio files. From my limited understanding of Web Audio, to get repeated play, the relevant AudioBufferSourceNode has to be recreated and pointed to the existing AudioBuffer. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Malcolm Turnbull on journalism's struggles

Two things have made the day for me (in Thailand), news of the launch of The Saturday Paper and reading Malcolm's article.
