At this time when the VIX is high, is it best to stay completely from options?
Thanks.

Re: Answering questions......

Thanks Winace.
So buying in the money calls if one feels market will go up is the way to go, even though they are more expensive. You balance that with selling a ATM call, correct of same money value? Is this called a straddle?
So, in general, would you say that during a rising VIX, out of the money options perform best (not knowing much about this, i actually did very well a month ago) and during a falling VIX (we are there now I think) in the money options perform best?
I always thought you were treated harshly on one blog in particular.

Re: Answering questions......

HI Again,
Do you think this rally is the beginning of something lasting or another up run n a bear market? ANd if this is a fake out, I suppose that hedging with some puts would be the thing to do. Any comment on what your thoughts are?

Re: Test

greenie,
Yeah 20 points drop in no time. Seems like Atilla's bearish calls are working much better than his bullish calls.
*********************************************
It is extremely hard to call a bottom. Atilla did it a couple of times (and got it correct, broken candles, remember?) recently but these bottoms perhaps will not hold. A true bottom may be still in the future.
Same thing happens at tops. Bottoms can only be seen in hind sight.

Re: Test

BIDU was down 42 points? Use trend channel breakouts to position your trades, but even these are not working well now. Nothing is working in this market, indicators, etc. We may break through recent lows and establish a new bottom.

Re: Test

Sal,
Now there is a concrete email address attached to the posting.
