There might have been a tiny shift for Black women, but trying to blame Trump on Black women will not work. According to the link I posted 89 percent of Black voted for Harris while 51% of White women voted for Trump. Even Black men who Karen claims hates women voted for Harris at higher percentage than White women. 75% of Black men voted for Harris. You are not going to pass the blame off to Black people.

It is not just Eric that feels this way. People who feel negative towards Eric will have the same negative feelings towards Black people, because many Black people have similar opinions as Eric. I can't speak for other people of color, but here is the Black perspective. I know for a fact than many Black people are rightfully upset about what they feel is a late awakening to the realities we face before Trump's expansion of ICE. Many Black people feel that by the dominant society saying the actions of ICE is unprecedented, it is an erasure of the brutal treatment our community received by non ICE police. Many Black people feel that White people feel that White feelings matter more than Black lives. It is really disheartening that so many people who are supposed to be allies have such a strong negative feelings towards the lived experiences of Black people.

I hate to be that person, but it was much worse during Jim Crow. For God's sake they burn down entire Black towns, and murdered many of the people who lived there. In the St. Louis race massacre, people burned to death in their homes. In Tulsa there are mass graves. Then we had the lynching. People weren't just hanged, some victims were burnt to death.No one was ever held accountable.

Well in the 1940s were were about 70 years into Jim Crow. Which was brutal racialized fascism. It is better to start in the 1960s.

Many people who are upset at this this and Eric's White liberals posts were perfectly fine with Eric critizing MLK and the Civil Rights Movement for practicing 'respectability politics'. On a few people pushed back. Now you know how I felt. Most people were blaming MLK and the Civil Rights Movement for 'respectability politics' even though it was something White people forced Black people to practice.

There was one poster in that thread pretty much calling Black men cowards, because none of them were part of the bus boycott case. This person could have just lauded Parks and Colvin for their bravery, but no this poster had to call out Black men who was living under brutal oppression. If Eric isn't going to give MLK grace of all people, then I am glad he is being consistent by critiquing White liberals.

Please don't forget about Keith Porter! I noticed Springsteen didn't mention him. Porter was a Black man who was murdered by an off duty ICE agent New Year's Eve. Also, there were more than three people murdered by ICE.

The thing I appreciate about Eric is that as a gadfly he critizes equally. Do you all remember Eric's post criticizing MLK and other Civil Rights leaders for practicing 'respectability politics' and not platforming Claudette Colvin? He said nothing about the reason for Black people practice respectability politics was and is an admittedly ineffective response to White racism. Black people were not seen as human, so Black people then and now thought they had to be respectable to be treated as humans. Most of the White Liberals in here were agreeing with him. As a Black woman I felt it was unfair, because Jim Crow wasn't merely unfairness like many people think, but it was a brutal system of racialized racism. Being criticized doesn't feel nice doesn't it?

I really have a problem with your last paragraph calling Black men cowards. Do you have any idea how brutal it was to live as a Black person in the Jim Crow South? White people murdered Black people with impunity. Black people always have to prove themselves to White people to get any grace.

So acknowledging that police brutality has long been a problem for people of color and other marginalized communities is 'purity policy'? As a Black woman I thank Eric for acknowledging the disparecy. Being mindful of the concerns of people of color is purity policing. What Eric said in this post is exactly what many people of color have been saying.

I thought they were all about 'personal responsibility' and 'accountability'. These are the same people who say all Black should take 'accountability' for the bad actions of another Black person just because we share the same skin color. These men started a war to expand slavery yet you say that Lincoln's assassination was divine retribution. I share my perspective as a Black woman and I get told to check my attitude and that I am ignorant. I will not check my attitude. Not only am I'm Black, my family is from the South I spent a lot of time in Georgia. I know about the South. Mrs. Felton didn't fight for Woman's rights she fought for the rights of only White women. As far as I'm concerned she was just as bad as any other White male enslaver. I bet she believed Black women were animals just like the Black men she was calling to be murdered. Yes, as a woman she was oppressed, but she had way more power than Black women.

I am a descendant of enslaved people. It is personal. The Feltons hurt my people and it is galling to expect me to have empathy for such a racist sadistic women. She was calling for the deaths of my people. It is visceral for me, can any of you understand that? I think I am one of the few Black people who post here and it shows. My opinion is not unique among Black people in fact mine is quite moderate. If you think I am ignorant and need check my attitude then then you must share the same of most Black people, because most Black would agree with me.

I know about the repression of women, but it is clear that as a White women she had much more rights than Black women.
