The comment about the size of the Windows AMI's are still relevant - they are significantly larger than Others.

And even when that it is the case and an EBS volume is created from a snapshot - restoring 30GB takes longer than restoring 1-2GB.

When when we are talking about Instance store - then this is exactly the case.

Perhaps I was not clear enough about that in the statement above

Re: The #AWS EC2 Windows Secret Sauce | Technodrone

Thanks for the insight Daniel

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

I concur (in part) , and often suffer from this in my surroundings. But if it is better, faster and more secure - then why not use it?

None of us want to be the one that is stuck with legacy stuff - while the rest of the world has moved on.

And on the other hand - that does not mean you should jump on every new thing.

What I wanted to convey was that we should all keep our eyes open, and evolve (hopefully sooner than later)

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

I don't follow your comment about writes to containers...
Can you explain further?

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

Time will tell :)

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

Yup it certainly did!

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

I am sorry but I don't follow your comment about FreeBSD.. :)

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

Thanks Carlo!

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

Hi Sam, here is one example https://www.slideshare.net/...

and another https://events.linuxfoundat...

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

The thing here is - that the other runtimes will probably provide the exact same functionality as the docker runtime - and more.
So it is essentially a drop in replacement

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

Hi Ishan, there are a number of them mentioned in the article above

Re: Goodbye Docker and Thanks for all the Fish | Technodrone

I am not sure which one of them has more market share. Cost is also a very valid point. We also need to take into consideration that even if the costs are higher in the cloud - the operational cost of operating on-prem or maintaining two parallel pipelines also has a cost as well. There is no one-size-fits-all answer here (as we both know) and we need to do our homework on the case at hand...

Great conversation - thanks for the feedback.

Re: Saving a Few Shekels on your AWS bill | Technodrone

Thanks Alex,
Cloud9 is an great product - if only the AutoStop would be a feature that is available on all AWS instances..

Who knows.. maybe one day.

Re: Time for a New Chapter - Hello CyberArk! | Technodrone

Thanks Ran - really looking forward to it!

Re: New VMware Visio Stencils - v3 | Technodrone

You are more than Welcome!

Re: New VMware Visio Stencils - v3 | Technodrone

Host had problems - should be ok now.

Re: New VMware Visio Stencils - v3 | Technodrone

Please try again now?

Re: New VMware Visio Stencils - v3 | Technodrone

Host had problems - should be ok now.

Re: Keeping Kosher at re:Invent 2017 | Technodrone

Hi Josh, I would be more than happy to meet up for dinner.
