Why put the cart before the horse? Packaging should complement logo, not the other way around.

So the logo has to be awkward because they weren't interested in exploring asymmetrical packaging designs? That's an excuse at best.

That said, if you disagree that the centered logo is worse, then that's fair. Might just be me after all.

We're getting to the point that ugly design isn't even unique anymore. Shock value is basically the only selling point to this style and it's lost that already.

Not arguing that point; the client is likely thrilled.
But it's a matter of time before they see their posters "copied" on the side of an art museum somewhere.

It's still our job to position our clients in a way that they're original, unique, and marketable. Just because this style hasn't caught up to the financial market yet doesn't mean it's got a reasonable lifespan.

Pencil drawing is a designer's best friend. Logos like these always start on paper; the designer of this logo clearly has a healthy grasp of figure illustration and shading / shadows but there's no witchcraft here.

Get a pencil and paper and draw your dog, coworker, wife, friend, etc. once a day. I used to copy a comic book panel every night. Just takes practice! Nobody is born doing this stuff, just takes time.

There's no reason for this to exist, but even if there were, it still could be better. I can't stop noticing that the lines of the globe overlap at the poles but the peace symbol (which, sidenote, is IDENTICAL to one of the three problematic symbols) doesn't overlap the longitudinal lines of the globe. There aren't enough shapes in this mark to justify any inconsistency.

Unpopular I suppose but I don't hate the ligature. I think tucking the v under the crossbar would pull the characters too close together and would inhibit legibility once it's the size of, say, a small corner widget on a tv.
