I grew up in a rabidly religious home, completely marinated in ultra-conservative Xtianity. I know too well the mindset exhibited by Ms. Davis. She's not evil, much as it would be easy to make her the ghastly villain. She is, however, so completely immersed in the bubble of Xtian fantasy that she no longer functions in the conventional reality the rest of the world shares. She has completely conflated her Xtian feelings with her role as elected County Clerk. In her mind, they are one and the same, inseparable. That's why Mat Staver — the true ghoul in this scenario — can play her like a marionette. She thinks she's being noble, being true to Jesus. And Staver is using her every move to try to foster a judicial precedent for "religious exemption" from anything under the sun.

Speaking as one of the many attorneys here, it may look that way, but, no. That's not how it is. You can't judge shop in federal court, the court you are in is determined by where you live and the judge is picked at random. You can't bring claims in a separate action that you should have brought in another. There are multiple rules and doctrines to keep you from doing just that. And there are only three layers in the federal judicial system--district court, the circuit court of appeals and SCOTUS.

You can delay the inevitable by filing frivolous pleadings that it takes time to review and deny, but the more you do that, the worse you make it on yourself when the inevitable arrives.

This motion is facially absurd. It is ridiculous. The judge will take all of ten seconds to deny it. This woman is just digging herself a deeper and deeper hole and it's going to collapse and bury her long before she digs through to China.

It may look like she's winning from the outside, but those of in the legal profession are watching in rapt horror, the way we would a television show about drunk rednecks playing with chainsaws and wood chippers at the "takes large drink and says 'watchis here!'" point of the show.

Ms. Davis is the classic example —poster child, now — of current Xtian religio-political entitlement. To stoke her fantasy of Xtian Entitled Warrior, she has conflated her personal religious mythology with her fiefdom as Rowan County Clerk. And the succubus known as Mat Staver is attempting to launch her into the mainstream for his own gains. While it is satisfying to see the legal system meting out approach justice, the best show is yet to come: when she willfully allows herself to be jailed, and become the Xtian Joan of Arc for "religious freedom". Come on. You know this is where this scenario is heading.

Look more at their respective track records. McCain has little-to-no positive history of advancing or even ratifying same-sex rights of any kind. Obama grew up knowing a "pair of uncles" and has long championed same-sex rights. I'm pretty confident that McCain/Palin are saying what they think will at least pacify LGBT voters [fat chance], and that Obama/Biden are touting the most conservative affirmation of same-sex rights so as to not disenfranchise independents and waffling GOP voters.

But once in office...? I bet they do a heckuva lot more for LGBT rights than they're currently stating.

The morning after, I wake to find I'm thinking of the entirety of the Palin responses as one, large, amorphous mass of cotton candy. Her handlers took her to Sedona and, to prep her for the VP debate, taught her one, single fuzzy-around-the-edges master answer she could apply to any question. All she'd have to do is rotate it a few degrees and spit out another chewy, sugary blob of it.

What really galls me is that I actually expected her to answer - or attempt to answer - the actual questions put before her. Having seen the entire McCain campaign, in enter-the-Matrix style, blithely create a reality out of spin and lies, I should have known that she would merely swat away like so many annoying flies those questions requiring more than a quarter inch of personal integrity, depth of understanding, or expertise grounded in seasoned governance.

I do not want a VP in the White House who f#&ing WINKS AT ME, dammit.

Well, that certainly is in keeping with his borderline-personality-disorder behavior. My partner of 16 years is a brilliant psychotherapist. (And no, of course I'm not biased.) By osmosis, I have learned a term or two from his work vocabulary. Borderline personality disorder can be defined, in simplistic terms, thus: a person who has to create drama and chaos where there otherwise would be none. A healthy-minded man would get something so deadly serious taken care of immediately. A less-healthy-minded man plays everything right to the edge because it makes him feel... what?.. more alive? More virile? More in control of himself and his surroundings?

It's possible, too, he has some serious post-traumatic-stress-disorder stuff going on. That would explain the Palin pick and interjecting himself into the bailout fiasco.

How many other people do you know who have ignored something as serious as malignant cancer, for pete's sakes..!?

I’m 95% unworried that McCain will be elected. But I am very, very concerned that this 72-year-old man who has had every form of skin cancer you can get is hiding the facts of his medical condition from the voting public. This may well be, in my estimation, his worst fault of all. At the very least people need to be able to make informed decisions before they vote. This completely galls me.

Well now, hang on. I didn't say Colton Ford was any good! Frankly, he's sort of embarrassing to listen to. Here's this tall, über-muscular porn star, trying to sound like some boy-band tenor. And not only does it NOT WORK (!!), he fails to substantiate himself as any sort of stand-out artist of any worth.

Both Finale and Sibelius have worthy Mac versions. MakeMusic, the company that releases Finale, is notorious for seemingly unending updates for their products. IMHO, not all of them are worthwhile - or completely functional.

Thanks much for your input! And here's a hint: prevent quarter notes and treble clefs from damaging your cranium: wear tinfoil hats at all times!
