It seems to me that the movie examines different ways of understanding reality. Justine views the world through a mystical lens where she feels and has connections with events and things without understanding how that connection works.
John, Claire's Husband views the world through a rational lens where the opinions of others are the definers of reality and everything is quantifiable.
Claire has given up on understanding anything and clings to order and ritual for comfort against the chaos of the world.
Claire's son represents hope, alternately clinging to Science, Mysticism and Ritual as mediums to be hopeful through.
All these ways of of understanding are ways of coping with the terror of inevitable mortality, and provide solace, but are ultimately useless against death except as a way to not feel the terror.
The Teepee/magic cave at the end indicates that spirituality/mysticism is the only comfort at the end, and while the cave may ultimately offer safety, we have no way of knowing.

Sure, the kids can sit on the ground and write on a board on their laps, and if it rains or there is not enough shade they will just have to suck it up. Of course computer courses or anything that requires electricity or other newfangled things will just have to adapt. So a typical class of 30 will have 6 rows x 5 columns which will be 30ft wide by 24ft deep which will cut down on copying and develop the teachers vocal cords.

It always amazes me how any kind of depiction or discussion of sexuality is portrayed as something that kids need to be protected from, but even the most extreme violence and murder are acceptable for kids entertainment.

I got the Braun version with a cord and adjustable speed (although I rarely use on slower than full) and it has served me well for 16 years with no sign of weakening.

I am an optimist about these new improved meat substitutes. The giant steps that electronics achieved in the 60's are starting to happen in biology and food science. I predict that within 5 years the meat substitutes will be indistinguishable from real meat, and in a decade food science will have advanced to the level where the substitutes will be better than the original. Once we understand every aspect of the appeal of meat, we can fine tune the formula making the texture even more luscious and the taste even more captivating. With any luck it will be significantly healthier for us too.

I'm guessing that these studies were mostly paid for by the meat/dairy industry.
I can tell you that when I stopped eating dairy (I was already lacto/ovo vegetarian) I lost 35lbs in about 35 days with no other change in diet. If you want real information instead of Meat/Dairy PR, check out nutritionfacts.org

Wow you are even more clueless than I thought.
Cows are born and slaughtered at the rate of 39 million every year in the US alone. The grain cows consume could feed 800 million people and put 119.1 million tons of methane into the air in 2011 alone. The deforestation caused by cattle ranching is responsible for the release of 340 million tons of carbon to the atmosphere every year, equivalent to 3.4% of current global emissions.
Although there are a lot more pets, by comparison they eat 1/20th the amount of food, and do not emit huge amounts of methane (which you would notice if you had a pet).
Also once we reduced the amount of cattle, the effect would be enough that there would be no need to kill all other living creatures to stop climate change.

People are complaining about infringing on their rights. This is unbelievably short sighted.
Just because everyone has the right to leap off a cliff does not mean there will not be consequences. If we continue on the current consumption path millions of people will die prematurely, and billions will needlessly suffer.
Are people so in love with meat that they are willing to be responsible for that?

It would be more effective to reduce the birth rates in the wealthy countries since they consume vastly more of everything, from energy to meat, and produce far more environment destroying chemicals like carbon monoxide.

Why would they do that? If anything they want people to do the exact opposite and dump their old phones for new ones every year, which has been their business model from the start.
For upgrade and repair to make sense they would have to move to a subscription/leasing model, and design the phones for durability and ease of repair. I have a hard time imagining that since it involves doing a 180° turn from their current design priorities.
