At my school we follow a mindfulness curriculum http://thehawnfoundation.or... which helps teach students how to self-regulate. I have found coloring to be a big hit among the middle schoolers when they need to take a break from work that's frustrating. While I think "adult coloring" is a fad in the way zentangle was 2 years ago, I believe them both to be valuable creative outlets.

Re: A Must-Read Guide for Artistic Summer Vacations

Mr. E forgot to mention the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, which are also located in Nashville. The Gardens are on the property which used to be the Cheek family home. Mr. Cheek was the founder of Maxwell House Coffee. The large estate contains several greenhouses and ponds as well as a Japanese garden, sculpture trail, and artists-in-residence studios. The mansion has been converted into a museum, so check their website https://www.cheekwood.org/ to see what's on display. If you get hungry while you're there, The Pineapple Room offers a nice lunch or you can bring a picnic and eat by the koi-filled ponds.

Re: Teach Your Students to Make Their Own Emojis

this is cool! I think my kids would like to do this, but we don't have digital equipment. Maybe I will have them create drawings and transfer them to sticker paper? I find students often struggle with transferring smaller details (like facial features) even when using a 1" to 2" grid system. Have you noticed any issues like that with this?

Re: Make Assigning Seats More Fun with this Simple Trick

if you don't want to make cards, you can do this with 2 decks of playing cards (or 1 if your tables are already numbered). 4 kids per table, i have 8 tables, so i only need one deck and only ace through eight cards. shuffle the cards and hand them out as kids come in. i keep a couple of aces and 2s on the bottom of the stack so i can slide them out and give them to the kids i need to sit up front by me. that way it seems random and they don't feel singled out.

Re: Pinterest Shut Down Has Art Teachers Searching for Immediate Alternatives

you got me so good! dang!!

Re: 4 Ways to Collect Your Students’ Digital Artwork

If you don't want to use dropbox, you could also use google drive.
