His argument was simply overly broad.

DevonThink is great, but it will work better if I put all of my "Project X" things in one database and all of my "Project Y" things in another.

Yojimbo is great for storing snippets of information, but stuff enough PDFs in there and kiss syncing goodbye.

Spotlight is great, but I find it works a lot faster if I have put some of my stuff into specific folders that I can then search in, and only if I fail to find it then do I make a broader search.

And of course, Spotlight fails to do a whole lot of pattern matching that would make it more powerful.

I wouldn't throw everything into any bucket.

Nor do I want everything just laying around without any organization whatsoever.

Assuming that Alex has some folders inside his Home directory, he agrees. It's just to what extent.

I like it!

The only thing still missing (IMO) is the ability to checkout Revision on the webpage, vs having to go into the Finder/Explorer/whatever on the desktop.

If Sarah Palin had been male, John McCain wouldn't have selected her. So you could call that sexist too.

Colin Powell called her unqualified. Does that make him sexist?

(It's amazing how fast Powell's reputation sank in the eyes of many Republicans as soon as he went all "Maverick" and broke with his party.)

They wouldn't let her be interviewed by the press until they "showed her some deference". Is that sexist?

McCain eventually wouldn't let her be interviewed by herself. Does that make him sexist? Or was he simply afraid that she would embarrass herself every time she talked to a reporter?

Palin's lack of qualification was seen by all with eyes to see. George Will said it. Newt Ginginch said it.

Lots of people said it.

But the biggest demonstration came from Palin's own mouth.

And before you blame it on the "liberal elites" go and watch the clips for yourself and listen to her stumble over words and make total nonsense.

Watch the interview with Charles Gibson were she-who-could-see-Russia-from-her-house didn't know the Bush Doctrine.

Watch her fail to list any newspaper or magazine that she reads, opting instead for "All of 'em!"

Watch her fail to be able to list any Supreme Court decision other than Roe v Wade.

Any of these things, in a male or female candidate, would be seen as lacking for someone worthy to be a heartbeat from the presidency.

To call it sexism is to try to pretend that the emperor had clothes.

Is there racism in our country? You bet, and Palin et al played on it as much as they could, along with the guilt by association of everyone / anything they could.

The voters rejected it.

And so should you.

Will you remember the scripture to pray for our elected leader? Or does that only count for Republicans? I've prayed for George W. Bush despite disagreeing vehemently with his policies and not thinking much of him as a person or a president.

I'm sick and tired of hearing that when Republicans get voted in we need to thank God and when Democrats get voted in we need to pray for our country because it's going down the toilet.

Here's what you need to learn:
"Born Again Evangelical" is not the same as "Christian".

While all Born Again Evangelicals may call themselves Christian, but not all Christians call themselves Born Again Evangelicals

While I consider myself to have been "born again" and could name for you a specific date, time, and place, I would not align myself with that group in a poll, because that specific group has aligned itself with politics of exclusion, supported war, and ignores the poor, all of which I see as anti- (as in "against") Christ.

Catholics who attend weekly services went 50/49 for McCain.

Catholics who attend less often went 58/40 for Obama.

Weekly church attenders went 55/43 for McCain.

White Protestant "Not Born Again" went 55/44 for McCain.

So the real revelation here is that you only consider Born Agains to be true Christians.

I suspect the Pharisees thought they were the only "true believers" in their day too.

Obama said what many of us have known for years: no one is pro-abortion.

He'd also like to end the deaths of our soldiers in a war that we never should have gotten into in the first place.

For shame. Jesus spoke truth. You speak hatred, fear, and lies.

That is a big part of what was rejected with Obama's election. I just hope the party of Karl Rove can rise to the challenge, repent of its evil ways, and stop its divisive politics of "divide and conquer" which are not the politics of Jesus. They are the politics of hate and fear and lies.

I don't mind the DM quoting, as I said the same thing to others in public as well ("SHE STARTED IT!" or at least "SHE MADE ME!"). I had no idea the thing was going to take off like it did.

For me, I sincerely hope that this has done permanent damage to "EPIC FAIL" and "FAIL" because they were so far beyond overuse already. In fact, one ironic twist to this whole event was that early on, before it had taken off, Merlin Mann wrote:

Was that my intention at the beginning? Nope. It was just a play on words, something that I thought of in passing and thought would be forgotten nearly instantly (as 99% of Twitterisms are).

But when others started to play with it, I immediately saw the possibilities.

I made several attempts (and even I'm not egotistical enough to go find them now) to move beyond the obvious (I think "Brother of the guy who played Batman: ERIC BALE" was one of my personal favorites). What I noticed (since, initially at least, most of them were either @replies to me or people I followed) was that there was a whole lot of "low hanging fruit" that people went to.

Some people really went at it well, most notably a guy I am a HUGE fan of, Eric Meyer: http://twitter.com/meyerweb who had some unique and playful entries.

I have no personal knowledge, but I think that Moltz was being playful, and Gruber was being serious, which is one of the reasons that I enjoy Moltz, and just one of the reasons why I think Gruber needs to lighten the hell up.
