It's a significant update, that they easily could have charged for. I've certainly paid for DLC that wasn't this good. I like everything they added, but favorite part by far, is the playable Wii U and 3DS. It reminds of the NES games on GameCube. I want to see more of this in the next game.

I use RSS synced with Feedly, but I don't use their app. I use Unread on iOS and ReadKit on OS X. I think following blogs via RSS is the best way to consume medium to long articles. Twitter is great for short thoughts, breaking news, and live events.

I used to subscribe to a lot of email lists, but I always ended up filtering them, because I didn't want them mixed in with actionable email. RSS ensures you don't miss things, but isn't a distraction. It's there waiting for you, when the time is right.

I'm not making any predictions, but the currently announced DLC was planned before any sales data was available, so it's not unreasonable to think strong sales could motivate them to add more.

Nintendo's "platform" is also very different than the Playstation's or Xbox's. Games on Playstation and Xbox tend to disappear very quickly, and DLC hasn't done much to change that. That is why DLC on those platforms comes out quickly and is expensive.

Nintendo games regularly sell well for years, so I'm hoping Nintendo takes advantage of that with DLC. High quality DLC, sold at reasonable prices could be a good revenue stream for Nintendo and their partners, and an excellent way to reward their loyal supporters.

Depends what you mean by: "U2 isn't quite the band they used to be". Their last album was a critical success, but sold poorly by U2 standards. The tour was their biggest ever.

In 2004, U2 was on the top of the world, and they made a similar deal with Apple. I don't believe this deal had anything to do with making more money than just selling the album.

U2 has one of the best record deals in the history of the industry, but they don't get anywhere near $10 an album.

Apple probably paid 5 - 10 million for the 30-day exclusive and the rights to use the music in ads. After that, the album will be sold and streamed everywhere, including physical editions.

This deal isn't about money for U2, but they wouldn't do it for free either. They like Apple, they like technology and creative marketing, and they like having hit songs.

The title should be: U2's "former" manager. I was hoping Paul McGuinness's retirement meant that he would stop talking to the press and as a result stop embarrassing the band.

Not only is he wrong about Google and streaming services, but even if he were right, it's unseemly for the richest band on the planet to whining about profits.

These plans are a joke. My plan with 6 gigs of data was $105 when the iPhone launched. I now pay $61 total. Prices should be going down not up. I knew 2-year contracts would be ruined by higher priced monthly plans. I haven't done the math, but I bet most of these 2-year contracts cost significantly more than the 3-year contracts they replaced.

Gary and I both really enjoy doing the show, but we've either been really busy or away, so the scheduling was tough. I also didn't want to do the show if it was going to be inconsistent or poorly executed.

Price has nothing to do with why the iPad Mini doesn't have a retina display. It's all about battery and form factor. When Apple can add a retina display and maintain the 10 hour+ battery life without making it thicker and heavier, they will.

The non-retina display on the iPad Mini is much better than I expected, but text isn't as clear as it is on the Retina iPad and new iPhones.

I don't think Apple will sell two different versions, they will bring the retina version out at the current prices or less.

Fun idea for a blog post, but I'm really surprised by numbers 4 and 5. The iMac was beautiful at the time of its release, and it's held up pretty well.

The U2 iPod is beautifully designed, including the packaging, and the build quality is fantastic. Mine still works perfectly.
