But one time my friends Matt and Chris and I took some mushrooms and walked around Sea Cliff. It was warm, right before Mothers' Day. We went to the beach, and we got lost in the grass in the park my house. When we finally traipsed back to my house, we sat in Matt's car: a 1964 Dodge Dart. He was in the process of restoring the car, so there wasn't any head-liner covering the ceiling. The boys were drumming on the dashboard and having themselves a wild time- and all the sounds we made reverberated off the metal and echoed around the insides of the car. The windows were the kind that you could push out at an angle, but mine was broken. So I just pretended I was staring out the side of our submarine into the deep, dark, nighttime sea: my two first-mates, the clanking of the engine going on in the background, and all the secret night creatures floating around outside my porthole.

Re: http://petitchou.tumblr.com/post/383008315

I think we can all understand this. A beach is a place where there is excessive sunshine, and the sand is so hot you have to modify your walk so you don't burn your feet. People are lounging on towels and kids are shrieking. Old Italian men are wearing speedos, and the have gold chains nestled in their chest hair. That is a beach. Just because there happens to be a place where lang meets water does not make that place a beach. The fjords: not a beach. In Oregon, it is simply a geologic accident that the water and the land happen to touch. Maybe things used to be different. Whenever I was there, I'd stand in the cold misty spray, looking up and down the deserted stretch, and think about how maybe this used to be the place to be; like 65 million years ago.

Re: SPIKE// - If it wasn’t so pretty, it’d probably be gross....

Wow- that's a sort of weird coincidence.

Re: She’s a little jealous/suspicious, and really, can... | Falling and Laughing

You got it!

Re: Hey everybody, it’s Althea and Donna! Once I saw an entire segment about making "patty shoe"; that's "pate a choux", in case you didn't understand his garbled pronunciation. I mean, give me a god damn break- I don't care where you're from- if you're going to be a professional in your field, learn the names and pronunciations for what you're doing. I can't take this guy seriously.
