I would, however trust the opinions of bloggers who enjoyed books that i have also enjoyed and read them in the same way i did. doesn't mean i would buy a book i knew nothing about because someone whose opinion i trusted has recommended it though

Re: Question: Should One Book Redefine a Genre?

[pedant head on]True Blood is a TV show not a book[/pedant head off]. I think the issue lies with the fact that by the nature of vampire lore they are sexual beings and therefore you cannot really have an accurate portrayal of a vampire without at least alluding to their sexual nature. Recently all vampire novels seemed to have been chucked into the Urban Fantasy genre without anyone actually taking their plot into account. The problem with these genres of books is that no-one has actually tried to define them they have looked at what is in them currently and said 'vampire right that's urban fantasy then' or similar.

I think a lot of these books about supernatural beasts shagging are chucked into UF because people baulk at anything physical or sexual being classified as romance

Re: Question: Why not just read and review the books you want to read?

I have a massive (around 70 book)pile of things that i am going to read when i get round to it but if a publisher sends me something shiny the chances are its something i really want to read so that goes to the top of my list. If i get a review copy of something i will read that next in my list because its only polite to get a review done as soon as i can but then i will go back to my TBR pile and pick something i really want to read afterwards. I suppose the problem occurs when all your books come from publishers and you feel obliged to review them all...luckily i'm not popular enough to be in that position

Re: Inhale, Pause; Exhale, Move Forward

I read a fair few 'brit' bloggers being from the UK as well as people like Jenn @ Free and Flawed and Rebekah @ Swinging from the Chandelier. I have just updated my blogroll for the new year (OPML to HTML Parser is genius took me about 2 minutes) so everything i read is on there now

Re: Round-Up: The Reads 2009

See i'm such a SFF scaredy i have not read a single one of your top 10!

Re: Inhale, Pause; Exhale, Move Forward

My biggest blogging goal is to comment more on all the really fabulous blogs that i read.
