Its just a buzz word thrown around by marketing and PR firms to make companies sound innovative in an attempt to get the stock price up.

If they wanted to do this for real and the right way. The coins would need a return on investment to get buyers interested. Require all people passing through the border to pay a Cover Fee in crypto, that gets published to the public ledger. Then to keep it honest allow miners to maintain the ledger, since we all know the government can't be trusted.

Re: Fork Wars: Bitcoin Cash Dev. Warns that CoinGeek Will Attack ABC

My guess is the SV camp realized that they can not take down BCHABC via raw hash power, as they could play their nuclear card and switch to another ALGO. Even though switching would be great for GPU miners, it would be bad for everyone mining SHA256, as all those ASICs that were formally mining BCHABC, would now move on to other coins in the network. This would greatly increase the Network hash rate, and make mining even more unprofitable than it already has become for those coins. BCHABC doesn't want to switch as it would alienate all the ASIC manufacturers. It will be exciting to see how this plays out.

Re: GunVideo.com – New Video Sharing Website by Lenny Magill

95% of us watch these videos from our cell phone while sitting on a toilet.

Re: UK IT Equipment Maker Plans Britain’s Biggest Bitcoin Mining Farm

You read that wrong, Each of the 1000 ASIC units does 43 terrahashes. so 43,000 TH/sec. I am curious to know what model they bought as the S9 from what I know was still the top dog at 14 TH/sec. Still when you break down the costs that comes to an average of $13K per ASIC miner that is capable of 43 TH/sec. That price must include the electricity as that seems a little high.

Re: 25 Sep – 1080 Ti Mining – ~$0.5/1080 ti, RVN

These days if you can make $5 / day on a 1080 Ti you are doing REALLY GOOD! My averages have been closer to $3.5 / day. Then yesterday the mining pool I am with, suddenly got very profitable. I noticed we were hitting some X17 coin that I rarely saw us hit, and each time I was making 4 figure satoshis. I knew something was up, as our pool usually hosts between 6500 - 7500 miners, and suddenly the pool was hosting over 13000 miners. Tells me another pool must have gone down, and everyone was switching pools during the outage. During the Run I was back to averaging $8/day per 1080 Ti, but it only lasted for about 10 hours, now my earnings are back to where they were before. I know its not nice to say, but god it would be great if Nicehash would go down again, those were peak earning days $14 / day per 1080 Ti.

Re: Bank of America Admits Cryptocurrencies Are a Threat to Its Business Model

I had something similar happen to me years ago when I was a broke college student. I had $200 sitting in an account, and since I wasn't taking money out or adding money to the account each month my bank started charging me inactivity fees. I never bothered to check the balance each month, and assumed the money was safe sitting there. When I finally realized it I only had $40 left in that account. It really pissed me off to the point that years later now that I am not broke, I refuse to ever open an account there again. I'm ok with overdraft fees, or ATM fees, but everything else should be illegal.

Re: Bank of America Admits Cryptocurrencies Are a Threat to Its Business Model

If you are getting hit with overdraft fees, I doubt you have enough money at BOA that they are making massive profits off your account balances. The fees are there for a reason. People who can't manage their finances waste a lot of the bank's time. We are a long ways off from crypto hurting the banks bottom line. For it to hurt the banks bottom line it would have to become a digital form of cash and be accepted everyone similar to your VISA card. But retail adoption is weak, and 99% of coins have no system to be exchanged in that way. Long term I could see physical money be eliminated and everything going crypto, even the US dollar. But that is a long ways off.

Re: Nvidia has two big GPUs in 2018

Nvidia should be worried about AMD. If AMD is able to produce a GPU that can out mine Nvidia's offerings and at a lower price point, and they can produce enough of them to meet demand, they will own the mining market AMD already did this to intel with their threadripper CPUs. There are so many ways these companies could embrace miners, and they are leaving a ton of money on the table.

Re: BCH will Surpass BTC Because of its Formular – Roger Ver.

Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash need a faster and cheaper way to spend than what consumers already do with their credit cards. But I don't think its using the full sensor for Video. When I am taking photos the view is wide, when I switch to video mode it only grabs the pixels from the center of the sensor, resulting in a cropped view. This sucks as scenes which I previously viewed in photo view, and wanted to get video of are thrown off due to this glitch. Sony should have used the entire sensor area for video, plus they should have supported 60fps video in 4K. Also It would be nice if sony could have built in features to post photos live to social media / FTP. I would have been willing to pay an extra $1k if both those features were built into this camera. My other grip is Sony should have kept 1 battery in the body when adding the vertical grip, giving you access to 3 batteries like on the a99. I am worried that 2 batteries won't be enough for some of my all day events.

Re: Sending a Sony a7S to the stratosphere to film the Northern Lights

Why did you guys not attempt to put this on a gimble of some kind to keep the camera pointing in the same direction?

Re: Life With Tesla Model S: At Last, Some Maintenance Needed (New Tires)

If Tesla allowed you to keep a warranty for a long as your pay the annual service fee, I could see that as a good value. 20 years later, still paying the annual fee and still covered under warranty. But that is not how it works. The battery only has an 8 year warranty on them. After that time you will have to pay to replace it when it goes out. The replacement battery is about $30K. Do the math on that, and determine if after 8 years of driving, would you have used $30K in gasoline in a regular car?

When the battery in our 2008 prius went out after 10 years the replacement cost was $2500. When I did the math I determined that I would have been better off buying a regular car.

mean while I am still driving my 97 Honda that I bought for $10k back in 2002, and besides oil changes ( twice a year @ $80 each using Mobile 1 full synthetic), 1 major tuneup ($1300), 4 sets of tires that cost about $600 for the set installed, Its had no issues. and I still get 26 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway.

If you like Teslas for the performance / experience, I get it. But anyone talking up how cheap their are to own and drive, are smoking crack.

Re: POTD: LEGO Heads Are .40 Caliber

Totally disappointed!
