Interesting topic to discuss.

While I don't agree witj #dealwithit, this particular observation does reflect what we see in the online public domain, "The reason that internet threats are terrifying is not the possibility of the realisation of a violent act; it’s that society has regressed to a
point that this behaviour and discourse is an acceptable and expected
response to something someone doesn’t like or agree with"

Is it something for us to shelve under #dealwithit or can we progress from it?

While I agree that there is some sort behavioural misguidance in drivers' conduct on Singaporean roads, it is ironic to see that frustration mirrored in the tone of this article.

eg. "Singaporean Drivers. By this I mean the assholes on the road that make you wish with every ERP-stressed artery connected to your heart, that you could drive a Marauder over the pathetic, sorry remains that would now be all that’s left of their initially whole BMW.Those people."

Definitely a valid point. Indonesia and Thailand are definitely rapidly growing markets in smartphone penetration with access to the Internet.

What's the source of the data that you've come across, by the way?

I don't even know where to begin after such a fantastic roundup. Still trying to wrap my head around the ephemeral media, but I think you're on to something there in the behaviour of Gen Z.

Maybe it's something that us Gen Y'ers have been guilty of as you put it, that in our ways to regulate social media, the generation after has responded by embracing a private space. Which sort of seems to be coming full-circle, but if anything, who knows what will come after.

I'm with you, privacy or the concept of private spaces vs public spaces will be huge topics to watch out for in the coming 2014.

Smart brands can create their own content:
1. Red Bull

Smart brands can also align themselves with media creating great content:
1. Vice X Intel = Creators Project
2. Vice X UFC = Fightland
3. Vice X D'Addario = Guitar Moves

Smart Media continue creating great content, finding a balance between what to give away, what's up for subscription or what's available at a premium.

Technology has lowered the barrier to content creation but the by-product is content dilution. Content aggregators like the once mentioned address a symptom of the problem in that there is too much content.

For media to succeed, the rules have not changed. Create influence and value, people will align with you. It's the "How" of creating this influence and value that media experiment with in terms of talent, hiring, balance of products.. etc.

As a reader, I'd have appreciated if the point of 21st century chivalry be placed earlier in the article, simply because it felt like a roundabout manner to get your true point across. You almost lost me at, "That is chivalry in a nutshell."

In that sense, I disagree that chivalry is about damsels in distress but treating women with respect. Maybe the result in the same actions, but the intentions are entirely different, and which you also make in your last paragraph.
