Totally. Even great parents sometimes have a kid that doesn't get his or her act together. But all three kids being disappointments? Maybe you have to look at how they were raised. I can't help but feel that this father could be doing a better job by not openly humiliating them and basically cutting them off. I'd be more impressed if he was offering them a plan or proposing help.

I was a teacher for 5 years. There were certain parents that were just like this. I remember one father in particular sticking his finger in my face and saying, "And let me tell you what YOU'RE going to do..." He proceeded to tell me the laundry list of things I would get his daughter to accomplish in the 3 months left of the school year. It didn't seem to matter that she didn't do anything I asked her to do and never turned in her homework...

I think the only people who still think split infinitives are incorrect are simply unaware that grammar rules change. The original grammar rules for English were based on Latin, despite the fact that the English and Latin are not exactly similar.

It's just a personal decision. However, some babies really have issues feeding when under a blanket. They're half-smothered at times and isolated. If you feel more comfortable covering up, of course you should do what's best for you and your baby. But frankly when I see a woman breast-feeding, it's no more revealing than what some women wear to the beach.

I would love to understand what this child means when saying "I am a boy." Is it that he wants to wear his hair short? Is it that he wants to play in the dirt and be a football player? At this age, I wish children could just be children without being forced to confirm to a certain ideal.

This is exactly it. I'm actually having prenatal testing in a few days so this was a slap in the face. I want to make educated decisions about my child. On the basis of Santorum's beliefs, I shouldn't even find out if I'm having a boy or a girl because I might abort it if it isn't what I want. Stop hating science already. Prenatal testing is there to give BOTH parent and child a better future.

I'm being difficult, but it's really no more invasive than going to the dentist. It doesn't hurt anything, it might be a little embarrassing, but certainly far, far less invasive than having an abortion performed.
