Do the three question marks indicate incredulity? Snapchat discovery seems like a great product...both are great for breaking news. Seems to me both companies are still deciding what kind of media companies they ultimately hope to be and that their own internal focus will have the biggest impact on what we use each for. My unreliable crystal ball says Twitter for news/opinion, Snapchat for entertainment. Not to mention how differently they already skew for age.

It's not all the way West but Bar and Garden in the Culver City Arts district (6142 Washington Blvd, Culver City) is incredible for local wines and hard to find spirits. Pretty garden in the back where tastings happen, too.

One thing I love about Voomly is that it's a play for the little guy as much as the big guy. 3K may not be much to big baller Andy but it's a life-changing amount to some. It's not passive income but it's a hell of a lot more passive than a 9-5 + a commute.

Any conversation about your book trailer that results in a debate about the usefulness of "grinfucking" is a win! I think this one misses it simply by not defining their audience. Who's gonna read it and what types of things does that audience listen to? Generic movie-announcer guy-types and upbeat elevator music? Not your audience. I'd have liked to see video of you and a few compelling soundbytes. Music and voiceover unfortunately make you tune out immediately. Overall impression is professional but blah. Haven't read the book but doubt that it's boring. Would love to see a vid for this that captures who you are a bit better.

I think that it is so misunderstood (by me, especially!) that it makes the messages even more confusing. I feel confronted by other parents all the time if I'm not making the same choices as them. LA and NYC are especially bad, and I've raised my son in both. I'm really open to whatever helps my son become well-adjusted and able to cope with the challenges his life hands him. I totally agree with you that precisely BECAUSE each child is their own person there is no 'one size fits all' way to parent. I'm sorry that I attacked Attachment Parenting specifically. If that's what works for your family then that's wonderful!

My favorite part of that Aspen Ideas Festival talk you posted was Lawrence Cohen, author or Playful Parenting's saying (which he quoted from a former supervisor) "Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable". I feel like the Attachment Parenting principles that are so popular right now fail to make the distinction between when to comfort and when to challenge and result in kids who can't sleep alone, walk without a stroller or comfort themselves when they are frustrated, tired, or mad. This whole panel was a breath of fresh air. Thanks for posting!

He is so cute! You did it!

Two things that have been lifesavers for me on all the flights we've taken: 1) bringing a full change of clothes for the boy and a big ziploc bag in case we need to seal away the gross old clothes, and 2) not trying to keep him on the same schedule, just going with the flow. The whole travel experience makes some kids sleepy but not ours so we just roll with his extra alertness and worry about catching up later. Oh, and triangular crayons for when he's older because they don't roll off the tray table.

Happens the other way to, that people will treat my husband like he has nothing to do with my success, or as though contributing to my more public success is something he'd have no interest in. We're a team. Plain and simple. I'm tired of having to explain it.

Okay, that's hilarious, thanks for sharing. I couldn't possibly disagree with Hodgman's ruling more but I understand his wife's frustration at the same time. I think she should find something that makes her feel as happy as he looks in those pictures. Then she should ask him to be all in on making her own dreams come true. Fair is fair.
