If you tell me a sleazeball husband you really need to check your compass.

Re: Congressman’s Would-Be Mistress: ‘I’m the Bad Woman’ - FishbowlDC

really she is a bad woman ID theft, fraud, tax liens, she was looking for 15 minutes

Re: Limo Enforcement Nightmare @ BWI Airport

From The Capital Newspaper opinion article 03/04/10

"It is no coincidence that the Maryland Aviation Administration's action quickly follows an announcement by BWI Taxi Management that it may not renew its exclusive contract with the airport. The company is reporting a 22 percent decline in business since 2006. Rogue limo drivers are apparently taking business away from them, but we would hardly call Crofton Coach & Courier "rogue."

Re: Nevada Chauffeurs Suing Bell Get Class Action Status

If these guys win, it could get ugly all around the country.

Re: JIM LUFF: Ask Employees and They Will Tell You

The only time I can think of tires and pina coloda tree air freshners coming up is that's the only questions you ask about. The reason companies don't do surveys is because they know the main thing employees focus on is what is going to make them better off. And owners do not want to hear I want benefits and pay me fairly.

Bell is trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube!!

Re: LINDA JAGIELA: Is Your Company A Football Widow?

JWL that proves my point, if transportation companies cannot afford to pay employee's then there is something wrong with the way the transportation industry has figured what it cost them to operate as well as what they need to be profitable.17 years ago I averaged about $15.00 an hour doing this work. I would bet today the average is half of that.

Re: LINDA JAGIELA: Is Your Company A Football Widow?

Luff you know I have to play devils advocate on this issue. It's my nature. I know how this business works and I still think it sucks. You would think after all these years operators would have evolved. The chauffeur has evolved from driving proms and nights out to being the face of your companies and probably your best sales asset yet woefully they have never gotten the respect and far share of the company from the operators. Bet sales people get paid better, bet reservationist and dispatch get benefits but not the face of the company.

Re: LINDA JAGIELA: Is Your Company A Football Widow?

Well that's what is wrong with this business. Sit around the whole day and not make any money or if I get a airport run and you turn me down 3 times your out. I don't know many businesses that could treat employees this way. It is amazing to me. And no benefits. Just amazes me, and companies wonder why chauffeurs bitch.

Re: LINDA JAGIELA: Is Your Company A Football Widow?

Well I think employee's would work if they were getting paid, but if Sat rolls around and you don't have work for them for Sunday then they are supposed to sit around and do nothing on the chance you might get a job in? You pay me and I will sit around otherwise be prepared to call until you find someone. Why should I have to put my day on hold and receive nothing for it?

Re: Position Paper Boosts Association Profile

Nothing really ground-breaking here. It would be refreshing to see an association come out and say that to be a member in good standing that they will follow laws in regards to paying employee's properly and legally. Now that would be a big deal.

Re: JIM LUFF: MYSTERY VEHICLE DAMAGE - Who Dunnit?

if a chauffeur hits another limo in your parking lot, in my mind that is classic negligence. So did Sat chauffeur fill out a pre-trip? Your overnight dispatcher should be checking all vehicles in upon return to shop against the pre-trip they filled out and left with dispatcher when they came on duty. If there is damage that you can't explain, the chauffeur was negligent in taking care of your vehicle.

Re: LINDA MOORE: Do Industry Associations Deliver Value?

So why were all comments deleted?

Re: LINDA MOORE: Do Industry Associations Deliver Value?

Linda funny that you mention the NE Livery Assn, I have been following a blog from a chauffeur who worked for one of the NE Livery board members. If one is to believe this blogger it does not look good for this board member. And this is what I said previously where are ethics in this business.

Re: LINDA MOORE: Do Industry Associations Deliver Value?

Linda you are right local associations are great but the problem is they are generally a clique. So whoever is president his like minded cronies show up. When he is gone the next set of cronies show up. I will say having some experience with MLA they are truly on the right track. They have had about 4 years of great leadership and they should be proud. They have brought many people to the group that I never thought would be together so props to them.

All associations should have an Executive Director, this person is responsible for bring members in and running things. Without the members the Director is out, they pay the salary. It is good as well to have an impartial person at the helm who can look out for everyones best interest. Not just of themselves and their cronies.

I do believe the associations should abide by their by-laws and should promote that to be a member you run your business honestly, you pay hourly wages for chauffeurs or a pay plan that at least meets minimum wage laws. No paying under the table etc...They should work to assist in providing benefits for employees. Not just lining the owners pockets. They should work toward holding owners and companies accountable for their actions.

But I am sure that this is a dream that will not be realized.

Re: LINDA MOORE: Hiring Stars — Do They Still Exist?

Another problem I see is that the job hunters out there don’t see this as a career. This is especially true for the chauffeur candidates. Professional chauffeuring is a calling and not just anyone can do it. My grandfather was a fireman and on his days off he drove a Greyhound bus. When you asked him what he did for a living, he told you he was a fireman and a bus driver. He was proud to hold both of those jobs and felt that he was good at both of them. I remember talking to a chauffeur in the airport once who seemed embarrassed that he was a chauffeur.

Linda this would be a great career but companies by and large do not treat chauffeurs as such.Crappy wages long hours that you do not get paid for, no benefits why would anyone want this as a career.I did this job for 6 years and was a superstar, but after that time there was no future in it for me. Tell people if the want professionals representing them pay them as such. Not pay them as day labor.
