Sucks that the album peaks with its opening numbers, I'm with you there. I definitely enjoyed the supergayness/dance feel of the first album and I was sad to see him rein himself in like this. But at least some of the other songs are catchy in their own way (Good Gone Girl and Rain are pretty good, and I like Imogen Heap so I like By The Time, even though it's not very Mika-ish).

I was responding to this thread but also to a few more I saw that said things like "omg people hate vick well what about hitler???". Like, yes, that is worse, but it doesn't make this any less bad, you know?

And I stick by my assertion: just because the NFL has a craptastic precedent doesn't mean I'm going to complain if they decide to do the right thing FOR ONCE. But the NFL stuck by its precedent, and people are complaining because it's a stupid precedent. Like people probably complained last time this happened. This is bigger & more buzzworthy but it doesn't imply "worse" like so many others on Tumblr/Twitter have been saying.

But it's nice to have a civil dialogue going over this. (I mean that seriously!) But for the record, I'm hating on Vick because what he did was gross, not because it's cool...

I totally agree! I sort of liked episodes one and two but right around three and four is where things really clicked from me, and it was a sweet ride from then out (though things really did peak around the sweet sixteen episode).

I loved the finale too. "Those are sun eggs!" was my favorite line all season.

These are definitely still helpful! Although I prefer Safari to Firefox (Chrome still has my heart) and I use Thunderbird for mail which I love. Not sure if it was around back then but Adium is a wonderful chat client that serves the same purpose as Digsby on my PC.

Just posted an answerable post soliciting more Mac help... gimme some tips! :)

Sorry, I realized I never helped with the design aspect. If you really want to tackle designing yourself, which is a hard thing to just throw yourself into, then I would start at sites like http://www.htmldog.com/. But there are probably premade Tumblr themes that would be fine to work with and easier too.

...then you need to either find a way to work around that or find hosting. If you host your resume elsewhere, which shouldn't be a problem, you can just link to the .pdf. OR, you can make a post through Tumblr including your resume. If you tag it something unique, like "resume," then a link to katherinemerriam.com/tagged... will only pull up your resume, making it look like its own page. You can do something similar with your contact info.

That's how I had my Tumblr set up until I decided to build out dfleishman.com separately.

Ugh, getting into "the Twitter argument" is so frustrating. It's impossible to explain to people who don't use it-- I mean, you can explain it on a very basic level, but you can't explain why it's so useful or why you bother with it, without sounding stupid enough to let the other person reply about how stupid it sounds.

So, I tend to fully agree with Linda Holmes on the subject, as she wrote in her article "Ten Toxic Things You Should Never, Ever Attempt to Discuss on the Internet":

8. Twitter. One important thing about this list is that it is a living thing. If this were 2000, it would include Elian Gonzalez. The most recent addition is Twitter, which is a good example of something you should never attempt to debate, because it generally morphs into a heated argument about the merits of something between people who use and people who don't -- it's like arguing about a movie with people who haven't seen it. They know they haven't seen it, they don't want to see it, and the more you say "But you haven't seen it!", the more they will say, "THAT'S RIGHT, AND I NEVER WILL." Oh, I hate ReTweeting and I think I've done it maybe once. I just SEE people do it all the time, and it's ugly and often fails to accomplish the intended goal. I just think if people are going to be doing it, Twitter could facilitate it in a way that made it more functional than people simply typing a bunch of garbage before a tweet.

And Twitpic with an iPhone is basically a must, I don't know how you've avoided it!
