Darren, I always put my nav at the top to help people find what they are looking for, but I am starting to see several occasion when it really make sense to put additional navigation options at the bottom. For example, I just visited your site for the first time and read a great post. I am curious if you have written anything else interesting. Maybe related to the post I just read. Maybe not. Give me some great headlines, a few featured images, something to click on other than the close tab button.

I am creating my own genius fund. I started Kdari as a way to help small businesses grow, but quickly discovered that many of them needed funding to make the transition. So I decided to continue building websites as a way to fund my own genius time and also create a genius fund for those I want to help.

Are there any follow-up posts talking more about where this idea has gone? Anyone building this yet? Seems like the first investment could go toward building an infrastructure for making this doable.

Hey, I like you new look. That is the one downside of Google Reader, you don't get to see the site as often.

I say go for all the travel you can right now. Money saved, is money lost to inflation. :) And you might not make it to 65 anyway. :)

No harm done. I was a bit disappointed back when I first discovered that another organization had the same name as we did, but I have gotten over that.

My first instinct was to get everybody together and pick a new name, but honestly I doubt we could find a name that made sense and is not already taken.

Hi,

Thanks for helping out with the group writing project.

I should mention to be fair, that we are not the same Caring for China as the one that you found. The Caring for China Center where I am ED has only been around for six years, and I have only been there for a year. Before this year, everything was done in Chinese, so there is very little about us online in English, yet.

The organization itself is secular in the sense that it does not have a Statement of Faith, although myself and several other members are Christians, and my primary interest in working with C4C is to spread the gospel in China.

We do have some things in common with the organization you found. We have also helped with building orphanages and funding cleft palette surgery (a common hindrance to adoption), and we are researching the possibility of sending teachers and other bi-vocationals into China.

We homeschool, too. I have to agree with your about page that homeschooling is not easy, but the most important things in life seldom are. You can meet our five at my wife's blog http://tabetha.gedeon.name/ if you are interested.

I will also look at Charity Navigator, but we are nowhere near the top 5,400 charities, so we will see. Also, I am spread very thin on many projects at this point (insert plea for volunteers here). Thanks for the link. It is good for me to be aware of Charity Navigator, even if it is only something to aspire to at this point. :)

Zemanta is donating several thousand dollars to causes that can get enough bloggers to post about them by June 6th. Right now the competition pool is small enough that 20-30 posts could put you in a strong position.

I probably should not do this to myself, since I am trying to help a different cause, but maybe you can help worldvision win second place and let C4C have first place, that way both causes will get much needed support. :)

Have you used FCKeditor recently? I am testing on WP 2.7.1 Firefox 3.0.6 Mac OS 10.5.6 Latest version of Flash (does this use flash?). I have disabled everything but Akismet, and the editor does not show-up I just get a blank box.

I get a surprising amount of traffic to my blog from facebook, so I am keeping it.

I use the TwitterTools for WordPress plugin from Alex King to send all of my blog posts to twitter and then pull all twitter updates to facebook. I also get a lot of facebook replies to tweets and those sometimes turn into blog posts.
