I'm an experiencer and have that point of view. Here is an article I co-wrote with my team of guides about their intentions and procedures. The interesting question remains: will we decide to collaborate with our galactic neighbors? https://medium.com/we-are-n...

Re: That Google Manifesto Really Puts Executives In a Bind

I have written about my own experiences at various tech companies, including #Amazon and #Microsoft, where I was hired as a contract/temporary employee several times. I have some not-so-charitable things to say about my time working for large tech companies, but what I am really calling for is some important culture change. For one thing, female contributors to tech projects need to be better understood and appreciated for the contributions they make. We also need to embrace human-centered design and design thinking more widely. I am a cold war veteran and social activist and I often think about the oath I took as a wet-behind-the-ears 17-year old. It is about service to begin with and yes, that commitment never ends for many veterans. What I wish, though, is there were more opportunities to match veterans with service-oriented endeavors. Maybe a job marketplace for veterans interested in jobs or freelance work related to the social good. I personally have spent 25-plus years working in corporate America and I have a ton of skills, but I have struggled to find non-profit/social good/social entrepreneurship opportunities to work on.

Re: GamesBeat panel spotlight: The new age of game rewards

I've been thinking for a long time that it would be great to have a game platform for kids that (in addition to gameplay points) allows teachers, parents, etc. to give/buy them rewards for good behavior/accomplishments, etc. Once the kid has accumulated a certain number of points, he/she can redeem for prizes. Seems like a company could get sponsors for prizes, and relish in their pro-social impact. Also, educational games would be much more interesting for kids with this sort of upside.

Re: How the Internet is killing innovation

You're talking about echo chambers. This is certainly an issue! I typically spend pretty small amounts of time on social media (usually as I share news from the stream), with the occasional sustained effort to write a blog post or catch up on Quora, Pinterest or YouTube. It takes a while to figure out where your reach is most effective, but once you know, you can (and probably should) contain most of these activities to 15-30 minutes a day.

I have many of my social media tools integrated. For instance, one of my Facebook identities posts to one of my Twitter accounts (@whyproject), so every time I share on that Facebook page, it updates Twitter. My personal Twitter account is linked to Linked In, so when I post an update on Linked In, it posts it to my @lisaga Twitter stream (LOL, which I can't remember the password for). I also use a Twitter widget on one of my other sites: http://whyproject.webs.com/ (Webs.com is a cheap web hosting service that makes social media integration easy. Social Engine is another).

Pinterest and Quora integrate easily into Facebook, as do other apps. It does mean you have to be a bit careful, too... not sure my larger community cares much about some of the things I read (which are auto-shared on my Facebook), but you can double-check and remove anything irrelevant.

Re: Who is Using Twitter?

This poor Kuwaiti fellow just got ten years in prison for using Twitter for blasphemy:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id...

Re: 10 Intriguing Insights on the State of Social Media and Blogging

I'm told there are a TON of teenagers on Tumblr.

Re: Valentine’s Day

best Mama ever.

Re: 10 Ways Social Media is Transforming our World

Some good news from Syria:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: 10 Ways Social Media is Transforming our World

Excellent video on the digital revolution:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301...

Re: Gamification of Sex

This is great!
