Everything I had to say about this I said in DGS, which you apparently read (I brought up that old video in my comment)... But I just wanted to throw out there I'm glad you addressed this. I mean, as much as I didn't think this was a big deal AT ALL (as you said in regards to the video/the point I was trying to get across to everyone by bringing that up - this isn't something new to start losing your shit over) I guess these are just things you have to address. Which, in my opinion, is fucking lame because it bugs me when the only time you have to use this thing is to justify your actions. I understood where you were coming from when you called that heckler out, I guess because your loyalty to friends and family is something I admire so I got that right away. Not everyone gets it, but just know (I'm sure you do) not everyone thinks you're a giant asshole.

I honestly don't really know what to tell you or how to approach this. I posted in there and tried to get my thoughts out as best as I could and you've read through comments so I'm not going to repeat shit. I haven't dug the idea of fanclubs (not just cobra crew, but in general) since day one, lj to me is infinitely saner, but I tried it anyway 'cause you're my cobros and I want to support you guys in whatever you do. I mean, it's your guys' choice in the end to pull the plug on it or to keep it going. If you're seeing something good come out of it then let it be, I guess? I don't know, have you guys lurked the boards and shit?

I don't get why there was so much shit about the performance, I thought you guys did decently which is the best thing to shoot for when you're doing a TV show performance. Plus you looked like you were having FUN and that made it enjoyable.

Onwards... Being someone who has had experience with fan clubs before the mere word alone is enough to send me gagging and running for the hills. However, I appreciate the concern and thought you put into how you'd go about handling a Cobra fan club during its test run (fair to call it that?). I have some questions about that first before I go into my small comments about the fan clubs in general. Those who buy the actual CD get a free membership, okay. How does that work? Like you get a code and you get in? Does this membership then last forever for those who get the CD or would they have to "renew" once the test run is over and it's legit?

I guess this segues into some of my comments. I've signed up for, in the past, fan clubs that after you purchase a membership for 30 bucks you're in it for life. I've also signed up for clubs that after one year your membership is invalid unless you renew it for another 30 bucks (so, thirty a year as opposed to thirty for life). Needless to say after that one year I never renewed that shit for a couple of reasons.

In fan club numero uno I got a card, a t-shirt, a poster, a patch, a button, and an armband that were exclusive to the club only. Along with this comes the "pre-sale" benefits and special exclusives to the club. I have never to this day seen any of those pre-sale benefits and any exclusives to the club have in one way or another been let out for everyone to see. Aside from the physical gifts I received for joining, there's nothing showing for the membership I paid for. What gives!?

Despite this shittiness I thought about giving the fan club thing another try last year and bought a one year membership for a band's club. I got a shirt, a card, and a piece of paper for my money (which all took over half the year to arrive on my doorstep and did NOT arrive in time for me to use any of those "benefits" at a show). Early entry? Nope, never seen it happen. I'd have more faith in just waiting twelve hours on line in the burning sun. I guess meet and greets are also considered a perk? My fan club membership did not get my friends and I to m&g, our ability to talk to people who were with the band did. I'm not gonna lie either, I think official meet and greets suck. It's awkward, rushed, and you say about three words when it's all done with. Like bad sex. Plus I always kind of felt one of the things that made cobros was that you guys just chilled out with us at the end of shows. I skimmed through some comments and saw you said you guys would do that even with official m&gs, but I have to think about how arriving early for meet and greets and then staying late to hang out can take a toll on you guys too. Also, sometimes those m&gs are held after the show (as experienced this week at the Katy Perry show) which would then cut in to hanging out after.

"They told me about all the special perks; the pre-sale opportunities, the early admission to shows; the limited-edition goodies, etc, etc." --- I've never really had a problem with how your pre-sales have gone down in the past, so maybe that's why I don't see this one as a big perk. I've never seen early admission go down and I'm pretty sure that even if I were to get in earlier than the rest, cobra fans are wicked in the pits and pertaining a "sweet spot" earlier wouldn't help me keep it. As for the limited-edition goodie shit, FBR loves their limited stuff as it is and comes out with whatever giant bundles they can think of. In that sense that it doesn't really seem like something fresh and new to me I can't see that as a perk either.

I'll be picking up a CD the day it comes out, there's no way I'd go without having a physical Cobra cd, so I'll live with the free fan club membership for however long the test run plays out. I just kind of don't see the point? You've got loyal as fuck fans as it is who are content with how things are now. But that's just me. I guess I'll see how it plays out. I just wanted to get some thoughts in so you know that all that glitters not gold as these suits are making it out to be. It's actually pretty shitty. Not to mention the incredible amount of elitism that'll spark once fans start paying for this.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time out to ask us what we thought about this. I appreciate that, and I'll see you guys at Crazy Donkey and hopefully in FL and CT too.

Well considering the interview happened a while ago and it's been hyped up since all of the shit happened on this blog to begin with... It makes sense that people would be a little frustrated that they aren't getting something that supposedly is a "be all tell all". I think most of the complaints were because a lot of people were under the impression we might never see an interview at all, which in my opinion is a perfectly legitimate reason to be pissy.
