He is a Muslim who spent a few years of his youth as an evangelical Christian, lost his faith in Jesus at a liberal Catholic college, and returned to Islam. A sad commentary on the catholicity of that college (You can look it up if you care to). Mr Aslan departs from official Muslim teaching which declares that Jesus was never crucified, stating that he was crucified all right, but neither buried nor resurrected. Pure Jesus Seminar and John Dominic Crossan. I think we should focus on calm rebuttals when the subject comes up, and pray for Mr. Aslan's soul.

Re: Fictional “Pope Joan” Listed Among Twelve Women Who Helped Shape Christianity

To include Theodora, "Pope Joan", K. Jefferts-Schori , and C. Mayr-Lutzberger in a list of Twelve Women Who Helped Shape Christianity certainly reveals a skewed point of view. Jefferts-Schori and Mayr-Lutzberger are big names in heretical circles, "Joan" is fictional, and Theodora would almost certainly want to bop Peter Sanford over the head for using her name in this way. In addition, to make the Blessed Virgin Mary share double billing, even with St Mary Magdalen, is crass.

Re: Fictional “Pope Joan” Listed Among Twelve Women Who Helped Shape Christianity

Good choices.
