That tells me that you are not risking more than you are by operating your own blog.

I do agree with you that possible differences of opinion could lead to unhealthy tensions with clients, especially if they are sensitive. I guess it could be like any other relationship: tread softly at first until the relationship solidifies and then proceed a little farther.

Great question about setting up commenting expectations! I am stumped, but that is a good risk. Will there be a sense of rejection as a part of the relationship slows down? I do know a few of my clients geek out about my commenting, especially when their blog is new and no comments come forth. It is encouraging to them.

Re: Your Favorite iPhone App

Costs money - SplashID (So essential to help me keep track of passwords, etc.)

Absolutely Free - Pandora, FileMagnet, and Bible. Very nicely said.

Yeah, I am like you. I enjoy every comment I receive and really enjoy the conversation it starts. I have not gotten many ugly/negative comments on my posts, but I think that is more related to the post materials similar to you. Sometimes I think I should go ahead and write something spicy just to see what happens. We'll see.

I enjoyed reading a couple of articles on your blog and look forward to reading more later. You may show a few shades towards the happier side of your life, but you are being real and you are being yourself. That has to be tough for people to swallow or accept.

Okay, enough rambling. Unfortunately for a lot of people, this is the one hang-up that prevents a lot of people from blogging. How often have I heard people say "I do not have time to blog?"

Thanks for the comment!

Re: My Day Yesterday in 90 Seconds

That is too funny! 90 sec day is a great idea. It almost reminds me of the second and third Bourne movies where they do not stay on one shot for more than two to three seconds.

You're right about that guy stuffing food in his mouth (you know who you are). Maybe you should have cut him down to 0.8 seconds. :)

Re: The Slow Rise of NCIS

You are right about what works for one industry may not work for another. I found an interesting article on the Persecution Blog talking about Christians using balloons to spread the Gospel in N. Korea.

http://www.persecutionblog....

Now, I cannot imagine me using a balloon tactic quite like this for my marketing efforts, but I pray that it is working for them.

I also love the point you bring out about how "the principles of marketing...play out differently for different companies." The beautiful part about web marketing is that there is no one answer. Putting the time in and tweaking the whole formula is the key to finding out what works best for each person.

Thanks for the insight and thanks for the comments!

Re: SexSexSexSexSexSexSex // YesYesYesYesYesYesYes

Too funny. It seems very comparable to Disqus. What is a shame is that they are not meshed together so you can really keep track of all of your friends. I had answers for the other two options, but not that one.

Maybe addressing some of the problems with growth and the advantages of being small will help figure out how to address the question at hand:

Potential Issues with Growth
a. A lot of commenters on the website/blog makes it tougher to interact with each commenter. You lose the individual touch that a blogger with a smaller audience can provide.
b. Tougher to make newcomers feel welcome as growth continues.
c.

Small
a. Makes people feel like a big fish in a small pond
b. Quick response to your audience's questions, participation, etc.
c. Cater to your specific niche (maybe, maybe not, but it may be tempting to be everything to everyone as you get biger??)

What do you think? Do you think I am on track? What can you add or remove from these lists? I guess the next step is to figure out how to maintain the "small" feel as growth occurs. :)

I love your question. It really made me think.

See ya.
