Malcolm Robb's version has many new features and bug fixes: https://github.com/MalcolmR...

And don't worry too much about using the stock RTL-SDR antenna. I've picked up aircraft over 100 miles away with it.

Re: Getting the hang of (map)

Also, when you use (for ...) or (map ...), you are creating lazy sequences that may not be realized unless they're used. Since you're interested in the side-effects of the code (that is, inserting into the database), you need to force the lazy sequence to be realized or the data might not actually get inserted. You can do that with dorun. E.g., (dorun (map ...)). Alternately, you can use doseq, which is meant for use where you care about side-effects.

Re: Getting the hang of (map)

Just a suggestion: You can replace (merge data (hash-map :name (str "TEST " (:name data) )))) with (assoc data :name (str "TEST " (:name data))).

Re: ‘Minimum viable product’ can’t just be cheaper; it has to be smarter

That's basically what TerrAvion (http://www.terravion.com/) is doing--they are also focusing on collecting data for farmers from aerial platforms, but until the regulatory environment improves, they just fly a small manned plane over fields. If/when drones become a feasible option, they'll already have sensing and analysis infrastructure in place, and they can just swap their sensor module onto the drone.

Re: Drone Manufacturers Whine That They Are Misunderstood

Ubiquitous drones, their use by law enforcement and others, and the privacy implications are all important issues, but this article is shallow, simple and prejudiced and does not help us understand anything about how to navigate those issues.
