I used to be on-line and aware 12 hours a day for many years, I'm down to 4-8 hours a day now - job working hours, most of what people do on-line is ignored, a small percentage of people make it look like successful on-line working is a common thing, no sour lemons here, just slightly weary of being connected and poor!

The meaning of "austerity" for the lower classes is like a reverse French revolution - instead of the poor rising up and expecting a higher standard of living, we are told we are greedy, lazy, work shy. Cancer patients and disabled are told they are in the group of lazy / bad behaviour if they don't go back to work after 12 months, drug addicts are meant to be recovered from a life of no work after 6 months, workfare / forced voluntary work is being brought in, failed nhs staff are being used to trick the sick into thinking they are well enough to work at (or below) minimum wage, all the press is ganging up on the poor of this country like they are to the Greeks, scapegoats, the government is behaving like a 'deadbeat dad' the type that hates their children and blames them for all their failings, the only mother left is mother earth...

Good to see there is still some fight left in TC - I was a bit worried the sell out (and the AOL freebies) had tampered with the team's group brain - i.e once you get the prize, what left is there to get passionate about - unless your next challenge is to save up to buy your own blog back - you might get a good deal if you wait a while, rather than TC ending up merged into a section of the other blog AOL own.

there are lots of ways to get your mates e-mails, I got some by accident once by opening a flixster account - it listed - by e-mail all the facebook friends I had that hadn't joined - so in theory I could have just copied and pasted the entire list - their are loads of networks that offer this by product of linking up - the useful part of it is - if you aren't into farming e-mails but just like to have an instant set of cyber friends on every platform, I have about 150 buddies already on most platforms like hire a crowd, we mainly wave at each other through cyberspace because we can - freedom to transport your buddies is FUN

I guess it depends on how much Jason feels he is entitled to, and if that seems reasonable or an extortionate for the work he did. I kind of take the side of a person fighting for money, as my business plans were screwed by a dictator messing with a dying man's will on his deathbed - it was only a small amount of money - but it was for an accountant / tax man to get me out of the mess now.

When money is tight people get desperate - maybe he is skint and asking a mate for help ?

It kind of makes sense to me, as the chemical was hidden in printer cartridges... I'm sure I remember years ago bombs being hidden in walkmans and, cassettes and video tapes, whom ever decided initially to transfer the suspected bombs to a helicopter in UK makes less sense.

Yes I think there are quite a few Pirates or adventurers - I imagine the poor British people living in poverty that were given the offer to sail to the "new world" - America and Australia many people packed up and left the UK with no idea what the future would hold - 3 ancestors of mine set off for New York, escaping from the East End slums of London to Brooklyn, one opened a news agents, one joined the American Navy and one became a servant for a Scottish family that had made it there already.

if in theory a troll was doing you a favor, by upping your links for no apparent reason (I don't think any troll is pure evil, they just want attention) then this might be easier to 'ignore' - so while the bumping troll might have been acting independently from digg, maybe digg just let it carry on as it was bumping their favorite links ? - a bit like a friend of a friend on facebook promoting your stuff because they are stalking that friend - question is do you stop it or let them carry on ?

'a bit' of gaming of a system in acceptable in my book, as back in pre social networking days is wasn't uncommon for mods/network owners to create extra personas in forums up to 10 extra 'people' on an averaged sized forum was seen as okay - it's a little suspicious that these empty accounts are so lacking personality, are you sure they don't have an enemy/troll/stalker with a grudge doing it ?
