I totally agree with you when you say the condition can make you feel that yoga is the exercise for you, but recently I've discovered exercise with resistance bands and I'm hooked. Everything's strengthening up and I'm feeling more confident in my body than I ever have :) Do I feel tighter now when I do yoga - yes I think so, but I feel it's to be expected and as I continue with both practices things will, I hope, even out a bit. Thanks again for the article - I too wish this syndrome was more widely acknowledged as children as well as adults could benefit from being understood in this way I think.

Re: The Aging Athlete

I had knee problems that kept me off games age 14. They progressively
worsened until when my son was about 7 and I was trying to play tennis
with him I had to seek (a lot of) medical and therapeutic help. I
actually wondered how long I'd be active. Information though is a
wonderful thing and I gradually built up some understanding of my
problems (hypermobility being a major one). Now (age 53) I'm beginning
to believe I could take up tennis again and get a lot of fun from it
without injury. So, this article resonates. I frequently look up on
the internet amazing figures in athletics (the oldest gymnast in her
eighties has some great movement) - I don't though (yet) see any
correlation between date of start time and age although I believe the
turbaned tornado (now retired age 103) having been an amateur runner as a
young man gave it up between the ages of 36 and 83 and ran his first
race (the London Marathon) at the age of 89. It would be very
interesting to know if the (very long) hiatus in his training either
saved him from persistent injuries or maybe as an older person he was
more concerned with form than he would have been as a younger one.

Re: Botox And Emotions

Hi Michael, I found this post in relation to embodied cognition. I like the practical take and emphasis on embodied learning:

http://www.marksdailyapple....

Re: Botox And Emotions

Thanks for this article. I seem to remember this kind of information being around for a bit. It's frustrating not to be able to put my hands on more scientifically detailed information - the odd article here and there is all I ever find. However, I'm now going to try putting 'embodied cognition' into a search engine to see what comes up. Thanks again.

Re: Doman Advantage - Unleash Your Child's Unlimited Potential

It would be to think.

Re: Silva Mind Body Healing

I think if people had more information about the kind of things you teach they would be healthier. If they understood more about the principles of health outlined above I think they would be very happy to practise them.

Re: Silva Mind Body Healing

I am absolutely sure, Laura, that your energy treatments helped your husband to recover so quickly. What is difficult to understand is why the doctors couldn't see that a 'bizarre' recovery coupled with a wife who had been conscienciously practising energy healing throughout the emergency would most likely mean that the technique worked. Seems logical to me. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Silva Mind Body Healing

Family get togethers and some social situations cause me stress sometimes. At the moment I try to avoid them but I would like to explore better techniques as it's not always possible to avoid.
Thanks for this video, Laura, I thought it was well explained and illustrated.

Re: Project GiftED

I love these ideas! I'm a great believer in intuition but some of these ideas are so practical.
