And I suspect companies such as Okuma will be the last to adopt Green technologies and principles. In a former life I was a nuclear engineer for the US Navy. Job mobility really isn't a concern of mine. Skills are quite frequently easily transferable to a new line of work, as long as you have the motivation and innovation to prove yourself.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuck talks Twitter on CNN's 'Your $$$$$'

ya, but the problem with most mainstream media mega outlets is that they improperly fixate on one face to describe a movement.

Re: Gary Vaynerchuck talks Twitter on CNN's 'Your $$$$$'

Great, so Gary Vaynerchuck has now become the social media image of mainstream media? I would have preferred Kevin Rose or Leo Laporte.

Re: The Fragmentation of America

However Dan, there will come a time when Federal assistance as we know it today will no longer exist. They can only push so much fake money into the market before the system breaks down.

I hear individuals commonly compare our current situation to the rise of the city-states of Italy during the Renaissance period. There is a push from the bottom up for individuals to start associating their allegiances to their local governments and cities.

Another point I would like to make is that Americans as a whole need to stop depending on the government to solve every problem. Our contract with government is only to create a safe atmosphere in which we can grow and prosper. It is not its job to also create the prosperity. That is our job. Individuals need to start taking more responsibility for our situation. sitting back collecting our unemployment checks while we scream and yell at Wall Street will solve nothing. Sensibilities such as this will slowly lead to the demise of our Federal government.

http://allaboutcities.ca/th...

I don't agree with every aspect of this link, but what I find scary is how easy it is to imagine this happening

Re: The Bob - Meacham: The End of Christian America

True Dan, many other nations are far more developed in their understanding of various religious view and philosophies. Then again, other nations were not deliberately created. The United States was a nation that came into being through a deliberate action of independence by a society of people who escaped religious persecution in Europe. In short, America was started by castoffs from a well developed and philosophically balanced Europe.

Slowly, we will move forward and articles such as this one will become more commonplace. We will move beyond religious tolerance and our society will learn to embrace religious acceptance.

Re: The Bob - Saudi Deists

Clemente,

My apologies for taking so long to reply. I have no intention of ever remove the Modern Deism blog. I hope that one day soon I will be able to return to my blogging ways on a regular basis. I have moved to a new position within my company that should allow me more time to pursue my intellectual endeavors.

Thanks for your inquiry, and I am glad that my blogs are still providing useful information.

Re: Perfection in an Imperfect World

There is only one way the Detroit Lions can get out of their current mess...A bailout :-)

Re: I Voted

Thanks for you comments Dan. I still take a lot of flack at work for my Obama vote. I work in the machine tool business and a stable, safe economy is usually better for business. So, naturally, my co-workers are using any excuse, however illogical, to shift the blame for our company's hardships.

I do not think that Obama will bring any drastic change to our way of life, or to our form of government. He will also effect little change on our economic system. He is only one man and he only has four years. What Obama's election does indicate, is that America has had enough of the old guard. We are ready to clean up Washington and start sharing some of the responsibility for our current situations. We voted for higher taxes, more government spending, and more government intrusion in our daily lives. This we must be aware of and limit its impact, however, some of these actions are the necessary steps that we must take in order to fix the third rails of America (social security, healthcare, Iraq, abortion rights, etc).

Also, I am glad that you like my photo. I wanted this blog to be a bit more personal and I want to strive to make this a place where I can be myself and not be bound by other people's moral baggage. This is one of the reasons that I have lessened my role in Deism.

Re: In Chicago...again

Staying in a hotel that nice is a rarity. I was in Chicago for the International Machine Tool Show. It only happens every two years. Normally, it's a holiday inn or hampton inn for me. But it was nice while it lasted.
