And yes, it gets tough around Step number 2 for most of us! I see from your "about" section here that you are a Mac User, iPhone Junkie, Photographer, etc. What you can do if you want to craft a pitch around one of those things. The 15SecondPitch works best when it's about one thing, so for someone like you, you'll have several different pitches for your different interests.

Re: NY Tech Meetup Showcase!

Sounds like a GREAT event! He said, "Stop trying to be someone else, because THEY are already taken." Everyone in the room had to think about it for about 2 seconds and then a burst of insane laugher. Yup, everyone else IS taken. So, just be yourself. (correct me if this is not the exact quote because it was hilarious and I want to get it right.) Of course, if I don't get it precisely right, I'm just being myself and I guess that's the point here...

Re: Search Terms for ChrisBrogan.Com

I always use 15SecondPitch to find you!! No, actually, thats not true, I type 'chris brogan' in Google and click on the link. Sometimes I type 'Chris Brogan.com' right into the address bar, because I know that's where I want to go, but if I type your name into Google, I might find some other interesting things you are up to as well.

Re: My Best Networking Tips

I agree whole-heartedly with everything you say here. I'd add that I think you can pitch yourself energetically and enthusiastically without coming off like an ass. A great example of this is a woman, Grace Piper, that I met at podcampnyc. She's funny, smart and engaging. She does a show called 'Fearless Cooking.' She also has her pitch down cold, but it never comes off as a hard sell. She's figured out a way to deliver it at the right time and in a genuine right way. I think that's the key.

Re: Friendsourcing Needs- Can We Work Together

Very simply, Chris Brogan is the guy you are going to see on the cover of Fast Company, Fortune, Forbes (and all sorts of other publications that don't start with F.,) in the next few years and I'm willing to bet he'll still take your phone call even after he's a household name.

Re: Drinking Beer and Eating Whoopie Pies

Hey guys!
I am just playing catch-up on everything that has happened this week. (Lots of interesting stuff that I'll tell you about soon,) when I was thinking "I wonder what Brogan is doing?" so of course I wandered over to his blog and then saw all of your posts and thought, "This is kinda fun, like a Virtual Brunch where you get to hang out and see what everyone is up to." So I suggest we meet here every Sunday morning, at whatever time kids and life allow up to do so. And Chris that is so awesome that you gave them your cam corder. Rock on!

Re: Watching TV on the Plane

I suggest you get MC Hammer to star in your hammer throwing show and call it "Hammer Time."

Re: Man in a Suit

VERY SHARP!!! I really like the tie, and the blue shirt just happens to be the same color as the 15Secondpitch logo, so of course, you know I've gotta LOVE that! I guess I'll be seeing this in person tomorrow night. I thought they said "smart casual" on the invitation though?! I will be wearing a suit, because I prefer to wear suits, and because there's not really anything in my closet that's "smart casual." There's plenty of DUMB casual, mind you.

Re: Live from JFK

So, when will you be in NYC??

Re: News: Chris Brogan Joins pulvermedia to Work on Video on the Net, Other Properties

Chris:

You say HQ is in NYC?? They don't know how to set up an RSS feed
2. When they start to research setting up an RSS feed they see so many different products and ways to go about it that they get overwhelmed and leave it for another day (that never comes)
3. They don't even know if their blog can support having an RSS feed because they can't see any evidence of that.

Re: Subscription Drive

Chris:
Your post just gave me a crazy idea! What if you were to invite a "traffic" guru to write a guest article on driving more relevant traffic to your blog and getting more subscribers. He could use ChrisBrogan.com as a 'case study.' Great way for him (or her) to showcase their talents and a good way for the rest of us to learn something and I bet some of us would sign on with the traffic guru.
:)
laura

Re: Yes I am Different. You're a super smart guy. You'll know when/if you need to slow down or make some changes. The only way I've seen my clients succeed is when they find something that can motivate them the way your projects motivate you. Many of my clients are so busy it would drive a normal person mad. However, they are THRILLED because they've found something that they are PASSIONATE about. I can work 14-16 hour days without breaking a sweat because most of the time it's FUN!! It's what I want to do! It's my business! I bet you feel the same way. And I'm sure some of the emails are just people trying to look out for your best interest because they don't want you to burn out. But don't worry, you won't. :)

Re: True Return on Investment

Chris:
You are building a community of like-minded individuals. You caught her off guard and you got the meeting. Excellent!! The key to selling, in my opinion, is letting the person know what's in it for them. For example, $300. or $400. seems to little money to get any real value. Step up and ask for $2k and they can be the GOLD sponsor and with that GOLD sponsorship they get the following incredible things that they can only get from PodCamp. Let me know if you want to discuss, I'm happy to help!
:)
laura

Re: Hot or Not for Elevator Pitches

At the risk of sounding self-serving, I'd be delighted to help you come up with an elevator pitch that you can deliver in just 15 Seconds. In my experience, the trick is to hook the listener's attention in the first 15 seconds and then they might talk to you for 15 minutes, if they are engaged in what you are doing. I'm happy to help, no payment necessary, just tell your friends if you like the service. Best, Laura
