It's kicking my butt. For some reason I haven't been called Rawfu l I browse it daily, but I just haven't been adding anything. Fortunately we didn't get any snow.
I heard a rumor there's a new rawfood restaurant opening in Portland! I'm looking forward to checking it out soon. By the way do you know about the David Wolf and Daniel Vitalis weekend workshop? Its the springtime superhero seminathe weekend of April 25 and 26th in York Maine. Ginger juice sounds great. I really like using lime juice myself. Just to clarify, I only do the herbal infusions after I decant the fermented K into bottles.
Lately I've been making my kombucha from green mate, it has a very bright and clear quality.
I am sure I will be bringing some to another meetup some time soon.

Re: Whadda Ya Think?

Thank you so much my dear! I am excited about it. I've been getting ideas of the direction I want to take things and I've signed up for a program with Karen Knowler that I am excited about. So we'll see what comes down the path in the next few months.

Re: Penni Get's Personal - Day 11

I just hadn't had a chance to watch your vlog till now!
I freakin love you!
I am so grateful that you talk so freely and openly about colonics and enemas and cleansing our guts.
I feel inspired to go brew a lovely pot of coffee and booty root the coffee enema in a moment or two.

In terms of how I am doing, it has been an interesting interim for me. Lately I've been feeling like I am in the gooey stage between caterpillar & butterfly. I started a series of ROLFING sessions (best thing ever!) and I've been taking a homeopathic remedy for the toxic effects of vaccines. In addition I am gearing up to test for insulin resistance as I have been gaining weight lately despite my stellar diet and I am up more than 10 pounds since late November. My ND is suspecting that in addition to my thyroid I may be experiencing insulin resistance which means that whenever carbs enter my diet I gain weight rapidly. We are also testing for food sensitivities which could also be part of the issue. My weight has not been stabilizing at all since Thanksgiving and until recently I have been eating 100% raw all the time.

To be frank I have been baffled as to what is really going to work for my body. It seems I do not tolerate nuts, seeds, roots, dried fruits or many sweet fruits well at all these days. On a raw (vegan diet) this leaves, greens, low glycemic fruits, brassicas & oils which frankly is not a lot to work with. I've been wanting to eat red meat especially the fatty ribeyes. So I have chosen to eat some good steak on occasion, but I still don't feel like I have dialed in the right equation for my body. I'd say I'm in the 95--100% raw (not vegan) category 97% of the time right now, as I've also been doing some 70% chocolate bars which are not raw. All I know is that this is a process and if I keep showing up I will eventually find some answers. I would be lying if I did not acknowledge I am feeling frustrated and confused right about now.

I see and hear so many stories about the people who simply go 100%
raw vegan and everything gets better. I wish I could say this is completely the case for me, however the journey seems more complicated and convoluted than that for me.

Well since you asked, seriously, I figured I would tell you the whole story. Sending you love
--Jen

Re: Priorities: Diet and Health Come First

I am also happily surprised.
As a follow up I'ld love it if you guys would post a typical daily diet (including serving sizes/ amounts) from a couple days for both of you. I think in addition to seeing how you stock your fridge it will be helpful to see just how much a raw foodist can eat in a day.

Re: Priorities: Diet and Health Come First

I LOVE YOU!!! It is so validating to read this post. I can totally relate.
It is refreshing to see a fridge as packed as mine ;-)!

We just spent a week in FL (as you knew) and our grocery bills at Whole Foods including some forgotten supplies & flowers were a bit over $600 for the 2 of us for the week, covering our two rather different diets (me mostly raw vegan, him significantly raw with meats, fish & dairy).

I would say that a substantial portion of our income goes toward feeding and supporting our healthy bodies. Would I have it any other way? NO. I strongly believe we can pay now to invest in our health, or we can pay later with compounded interest!

Re: Heidi's Smile is Back!

What a BEAUTIFUL SMILE!

Re: Anticipating Travel

you are most welcome! Also I'm heading down to FL for a week of warmth so juice feasting would be challenging till I fly home on the 6th. I've been doing a mostly green smoothie feast for the last 2 weeks and plan to keep going on lots of green smoothies while we're away with some flexibility factored in for traveling & raw restaurants.

Re: That Old Cacao Magic

thank you Robyn! I will however carry a purebar or larabar or two with me.

A suggestion someone recently made to me that I think is sheer genius is to bring your empty water bottles (I have a 40 oz kleen canteen) and fill it up with water from the water fountain on the other side of security. It won't be spring water, however it won't cost $4 for 16 oz of "Spring Water" from Coca Cola company that has been sitting in a warehouse for a year in an off gassing plastic bottle, before making it to the airport kiosk. Personally I trust the free flowing tap water far more than some of the conventional designer waters in plastic bottles.

A few other tricks are to make a chia seed pudding which can be water rich but viscous enough to pass through security. Also cucumbers make great water rich snacks on airplanes too.

Re: Do You Have A Raw Story To Share?

Wendi (and Jim) thank you for the opportunity to share "my raw story".
