Or maybe it's the way the names of authors are displayed on different genres. It's a bit hard to divorce the name from the book cover when the typography does play a part in the design.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I suppose you could look at why certain authors have adopted pseudonyms, for branding purposes, to deal with society's expectations and so on.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;side note: I think Tash Aw had a really hard time reaching out to the book crowds in Malaysia — dude got a trashing for romanticising Perak, and fudging the details of geography.
