Konundrum is way buggy — the game connection drops too easily, there's no way to continue a game, it doesn't allow for simultaneous sessions and to top it off, the questions are repetitive

I think there's some merit to the discussion.

Chicklit authors seem to have more romantic names (or perhaps are later associated as such) and investigative/action thrillers usually have manly, one syllable or classic names. Or maybe it's the way the names of authors are displayed on different genres. It's a bit hard to divorce the name from the book cover when the typography does play a part in the design.

I suppose you could look at why certain authors have adopted pseudonyms, for branding purposes, to deal with society's expectations and so on.

side note: I think Tash Aw had a really hard time reaching out to the book crowds in Malaysia — dude got a trashing for romanticising Perak, and fudging the details of geography. It was like his entire novel ended up being a test of how truly Malaysian he was.

I never got a chance to visit Bar Italia (still wasn't done when I left KL), but you're definitely not the first to complain about the service.
For awfully grouchy old waiters (that counts as part of the charm), there's always the coliseum! too bad it's halal now. Pork chops, no moaaar.
