Hope you and your family are well these days. I think I like the 2000's version of Joey Rhyne better than the 80's version I have seen on Facebook.

Re: 21

Rodney,
Thanks for leading the way with a great model of marriage.

Re: 10 Commandments for Parents

Thanks for the encouragement.

Re: Get Out of Your House

Bosie,
Thank you for your comment. You have really pointed out a very interesting truth about the "Cavemen Society" and it's effects.
I have great memories of our RA campouts and the trips you would take us on. I learned a lot under your leadership. Thank you for investing your time into my life.

Re: Get Out of Your House

Kristin,

You are doing exactly what I wanted to communicate. You are investing in others. This time it was in the context of your home. This is a great story. I am pumped to read about how you are learning to redefine how developing relationship looks as a mom with two children and a busy life. The main thing is to prioritize the importance investing in others. Thanks for your leadership and friendship. Keep leading and serving.

Re: Seven Months of Thankfulness

Thanks Robert. Jeff Vanderstelt in Tacoma, Jason Dukes in Orlando, Linda Bergquist in San Francisco, Rob Burns in Philadelphia, Trinity Grace in Brooklyn, Tim Keller in NYC. Tribe in L.A. (that's where Alan Hirsch goes) is another example.

I think there are tons of practitioners being used by God in post-Christian urban areas. Andrew Jones in, well, everywhere, Michael Frost's Small Boat Big Sea in Australia, and The Crowded House chain of churches in the UK, Australia, and South Africa."
_________________________

This is exactly what I am looking for...someone to point out the practitioners who are living the preferred vision. Thank you for listing this out.

I think Upstream Collective has a voice today to point toward practicing models they view as being visionary and leading the way into the future. How about painting a picture of these churches so the broader context of church leaders can become familiar with them.

If they (practicing churches) do not have the voice or the platform at this moment, then you give them your voice and platform. Then church leaders can make a decision concerning what they will do to lead their churches toward a missional expression.

The fact is Warren, Stanley, and others at one time didn't have a voice either until someone loaned them their influential voice. Over time they were able to give their own definition to who they were and what they were leading. My post is not in defense or opposition to what they lead, but a call to put forth Missional practitioners and leaders who are shaping the discussions.

I do want to make a caution that if the US church is going to make missional changes there must be church based practitioners that pastors can see, talk to and learn from whether in the US or other parts of the world.

Since the US church is pragmatic in many ways they have to see churches in action and understand how "this" works.

Do not hear or read in my writing, "Down with the theorist and the prophetic voices calling out for change." I am one who loves change, leading change and being in the middle of changing organizations. But, we have to have organizations, churches, and missional leaders who are pointing people back to churches that are leading out in the preferred vision. Without the positive voice pointing toward "another way" people will grow weary of the perceived "naysayer." It can appear to become what we are against most often and not what we are for.

The church (in whatever form you have it look) is the only hope for a sin-broken and fallen world. So continue to call out for change, reform and missional living all while pointing toward those churches who are successfully living in the "new world."
