Meh. Steve is tedious and never gets to all the things he has flagged for more detailed follow up. I'll miss his week in pictures, but I'm sure Scott can fill in nicely. Honestly, even WIP has become less interesting in recent months. Also thought the Mirengoff feud was stupid, and hope you patched things up in real life.

Paul's posts about Covid-19 are ignorant, and as Steve noted, equivocal. He'd be better to throw away his keyboard than continue posting that garbage.

Quite honestly Paul, your posts on the topic of Covid-19 are long-winded and pointless. To sum them up, you're findings are "maybe, maybe not," and yet in tone tend to support the demonstrably false narratives of the pandemic since the beginning. Sorry, Paul, but there is no evidence masking is effective. There is no evidence economic shutdowns saved lives or even slowed the spread of the virus. And there is no evidence that Covid-19 is a particularly grave threat to most people. The balanced view should be that if we did testing and accounting for influenza the way we have for Covid-19, the results for the two illnesses would be nearly indistinguishable. And yet you have polluted this blog with our inane blathering on.

Write about soccer. You seem to have a better grasp of that subject, And we'd know which posts to skip, other than by the byline.

Many of Paul's links were redundant or out of date. Others featured studies that had been debunked. And his final link was a critique debunking other studies supposedly finding masks to be effective. I enjoy Paul's posts, but he adds nothing to this discussion.

And that's before you take into account that almost no allegations of misdeeds dating to the high school years of anyone with such an otherwise unblemished and distinguished career should be taken seriously.

Price transparency sounds like a great idea until you realize how much of your health care bill has nothing to do with your care and everything to do with subsidizing mis-use of the system by the un-insured and other freeloaders. You don't think that dose of Tylenol really cost $200, did you? Imagine spread across all other items, treatments, etc.

Yeah, funny. I'm reading that the Obama administration, which favors 'Single Payer' -- a literal monopoly over the health insurance market -- is about to challenge the mergers of Aetna and Humana, and Anthem and Cigna... over fears that industry consolidation would reduce competition, raise prices and limit consumer choice. This, from a President that is personally responsible raising prices and limiting consumer choice, while clamoring for zero competition.

That may be what we’re seeing this summer."... Fairbanks is warmer. O.k. But according to NOAA, the North Pole is experiencing record cold, and artic sea ice is at a record too. Meanwhile, "global warming" ended 17 years ago, while CO2 levels continued to rise. If anything, we're in a cooling trend.
You also occassionally repeat the bologna that sever storms are increasing, an assertion that the data doesn't support at all.
